Why do my legs swell every day?

Leg swelling usually refers to swelling of the calves. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the main causes of calf swelling are spleen and stomach deficiency, kidney deficiency, etc. However, some students and office workers may suffer from calf edema after sitting on a bench all day, so many people usually feel that their legs are thick at night. There are many reasons that lead to leg edema. Let’s take a look. And some good tips for dealing with everyday swollen legs.

1. Reasons

1. Heart failure and leg phlebitis are the two main causes of chronic (long-term) leg swelling. According to clinical practice, phlebitis will only cause swelling of one of the patient's legs, while heart failure causing congestion will cause swelling of both legs; phlebitis will cause pain, while swelling caused by heart failure will not be painful; various diseases that cause leg swelling have their own different pathogenesis and characteristics.

2. If these four conditions have been ruled out, it is clinically called female idiopathic edema. This disease mostly affects women, and most of the affected women are in their childbearing age, between 20 and 50 years old. Edema is often cyclical. When edema develops to a certain extent, the body can excrete more water and salt. Edema can be relieved after resting or lying down.

2. Solution

1. The lymph nodes on both sides of the pubic bone are key locations for blood flow. Press gently with your fingers until you can feel the area getting warm. The massage time is about 1 minute. Hold your ankles with both hands, press with the thumbs of both hands, and massage from the front of the ankle upwards to the knee, repeat at least 5 times.

2. Bend your legs slightly, hold your hands above your knees, and use your thumbs to massage from above the knees to the base of the thighs. Repeat at least 5 times. Starting from the outside of the knee, use the thumbs of both hands to pull up the muscles above the knee, and then massage outwards respectively, using the thumbs to relieve edema above the knee.

3. Vitamin E helps remove edema. Poor blood circulation can easily lead to swelling of the feet. Foods containing vitamin E can help accelerate blood circulation, prevent leg muscle relaxation, etc. Foods rich in vitamin E include almonds, peanuts, wheat germ, etc.
