How big is the left adnexal cyst that requires surgery?

In general, the clinical dividing line of adnexal cysts is about five centimeters. Of course, other conditions of the patient must also be considered, including physical constitution, whether the cyst has ruptured, etc., and whether there is any infection. Therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively consider whether ovarian cysts require surgery, and not just consider the size of the cyst. Let us learn about this aspect below.

Clinical classification of ovarian cysts

(1) Qi stagnation and blood stasis type: manifested by a lump on one or both sides of the lower abdomen. Small lumps usually have no obvious symptoms, while large lumps may cause palpitations, shortness of breath, back pain, lower abdominal pain, constipation, frequent urination, and ecchymosis on the tongue. (2) Cold-dampness and stasis type: There is a lump in the abdomen. Edema of the lower limbs, fluid accumulation in the abdomen and chest, and poor appetite. (3) Qi stagnation transforming into heat type: severe abdominal pain, bloating and nausea, fever and chills, depression, weakness and fatigue, increased vaginal discharge with a thick and fishy texture. The common characteristics of various types are that ovarian cysts are mostly unilateral, with intact capsules, mobility, smooth surface, no ascites, cystic, smooth cyst walls, uniform morphology, slow progression, and a long course of disease. Traditional medicine treats it by warming the middle and dispelling cold, regulating qi and transforming water, invigorating qi and nourishing blood, softening hard masses and removing blood stasis, and most of them have good effects.

Surgery

Mainly surgical resection. If the cyst is determined to be malignant, surgical treatment should be performed as soon as possible, and it should also be combined with radiation therapy and anti-cancer drug treatment. For advanced ovarian cancer, surgery should be performed to remove most of the tumor as much as possible, followed by chemotherapy. Some patients still have hope of cure; those who have been confirmed to have neoplasms should have surgery removed as soon as possible. During surgical treatment, different patients may have their fallopian tubes, adnexa or even the entire uterus removed according to their condition; postoperative complications such as pain, ascites, intestinal or ureteral obstruction, infection, etc. are very likely to occur, which will have an adverse effect on the patient's postoperative recovery and mental health. Traditional surgical treatment requires an opening in the abdomen, which is large and harmful to the body. Recovery is slow and prone to infection. The disadvantages of surgical treatment cannot be ignored.

prevention

1) Develop good living habits, quit smoking and limit alcohol consumption. Smoking: The World Health Organization predicts that if people stop smoking, the world's cancer will be reduced by one third in five years; secondly, do not drink alcohol. Tobacco and alcohol are extremely acidic substances. People who smoke and drink for a long time are very likely to develop an acidic constitution. 2) Do not eat too much salty and spicy food, and do not eat overheated, overcooled, expired or spoiled food; the elderly, the weak, or those with a genetic predisposition to certain diseases should eat some anti-cancer foods and alkaline foods with high alkaline content as appropriate to maintain a good mental state. 3) Maintain a good attitude to cope with stress, combine work and rest, and avoid excessive fatigue. It can be seen that stress is an important cause of cancer. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that stress leads to overwork and physical weakness, which in turn causes decreased immune function, endocrine disorders, metabolic disorders in the body, and the deposition of acidic substances in the body. Stress can also lead to mental tension, causing qi stagnation, blood stasis, internal toxic fire, etc. 4) Strengthen physical exercise, improve physical fitness, exercise more in the sun, and sweat more to excrete acidic substances in the body with sweat, avoiding the formation of an acidic constitution. 5) Life should be regular. People with irregular living habits, such as singing karaoke all night, playing mahjong, staying out all night, etc., will aggravate the acidification of the body and be prone to cancer. We should develop good living habits to maintain a weak alkaline physique and keep various cancers away from ourselves. 6) Do not eat contaminated food, such as contaminated water, crops, poultry, fish eggs, moldy food, etc. Eat some green organic food to prevent diseases from entering the body through the mouth.
