What to do if the glass is dripped by welding

What to do if the glass is dripped by welding

Normally, when using electric welding, if there are glass products nearby, it is very likely that the glass will be dripped by the welding. If the glass is dripped by welding iron filings, if it is not particularly serious, this can be removed by certain methods, but if there are too many and a burnt surface is formed, it cannot be handled at this time and the only option is to replace the glass. In addition, when using electric welding, you must pay attention to avoid the glass from bursting and pay attention to safety rules.

What to do if the glass is dripped by welding

There are iron filings on the glass from electric welding. These iron filings melted into the surface of the glass after high temperature, and there is no simple and effective way to remove them. 1. For glass with a lot of attachments on the surface, the simplest way is to replace the new glass; 2. For glass with fewer attachments on the surface and the glass is special and precious, you can use an angle grinder and a polishing pad to gently grind it, and then polish it. For the same work, you need to do an economic and technical comparison to see how to deal with it appropriately; 3. For areas with deeper marks, you must handle them with caution and be careful of the glass bursting, causing economic losses and personal accidents.

Notes for welders:

1. Electric welders (gas welding, gas cutting) are special operations personnel. They must pass a physical examination before taking up their posts, as well as professional safety and technical learning, training and examinations. They can only work independently after being issued a "Special Operations Operation Certificate". 2. Welders must be equipped with suitable filter masks, dry canvas work clothes, gloves, rubber insulating shoes, safety helmets, etc. When knocking off welding slag and grinding wheels, they should wear safety equipment such as plain glasses; they must fasten their safety belts when performing emergency repair work at high altitudes and in operating pits. Wear gloves when changing welding rods.

Notes on welding:

1. Carefully check the welding site environment before work. Inflammable and explosive items are not allowed to be stacked within 10 meters of the welding site. If necessary, set up barriers and start operations only after confirming that everything is normal. Before work, you should carefully check whether the tools and equipment are in good condition and whether the welding machine casing is reliably grounded. 2. The welding machine casing must have good zero connection or grounding protection, and the grounding and zero connection resistance values should be less than 10 ohms; the neutral wire and ground wire are prohibited from contacting the wire rope, and the wire rope and electromechanical equipment must not be used to replace the neutral wire. 3. The length of the primary power cord of the AC arc welding machine should not exceed 3.5 meters, and the length of the secondary power cord cable of the electric welding machine should not exceed 30 meters, and double insulation is required. When welding in a damp location, you should place insulating objects such as dry wooden boards at the construction site to prevent electric shock. When your clothes are wet due to sweating, do not lean on live steel plates or workpieces to prevent electric shock. 4. It is strictly forbidden to hold the handle line or wrap it around the body when climbing the ladder. The electric welder should be placed in a rainproof and well-ventilated place. Open-air welding operations should be stopped during thunderstorms. When moving the handlebars to change venues, the power supply should be cut off. 5. When connecting or disconnecting the power cord of the welding machine or when the welding machine malfunctions, you should repair it together with an electrician to prevent electric shock accidents. The welding machine should be repaired by electrical maintenance personnel, and other personnel are not allowed to dismantle and repair it without the consent of the maintenance personnel. 6. If a fire occurs during welding, the power supply of the welding machine should be cut off first, and then the fire should be extinguished with a fire extinguisher such as carbon dioxide or dry powder; the use of foam fire extinguishers is prohibited. After welding is completed, check and clean up the site, extinguish the fire, and cut off the power supply before leaving the workplace. When pushing or pulling the knife switch, your face is not allowed to face the switch directly to prevent sparks caused by short circuit from burning your face.
