Male vasectomy method

Male vasectomy method

Male sterilization is a relatively common method of contraception, which can achieve permanent contraceptive effect. Its principle is to completely block the channel for sperm transport from the testicles, so that the sperm cannot be discharged from the body through the urethra. This method is suitable for couples who no longer want to have children. Male sterilization is a relatively minor operation, but before the operation, you must also emphasize nourishment and pay attention to preoperative care.

Male vasectomy method

1. Disinfect the surgical field three times with warm 0.1% benzalkonium bromide solution (1:1000 chlorhexidine solution) and cover the hole with a towel. Use the thumb and middle finger of your left hand to find the vas deferens on the front and outside of the scrotum, and firmly squeeze it under the skin, feeling and pinching the tough vas deferens. Local anesthesia is applied to the skin where the vas deferens is fixed, and the medicine is pushed while the needle is inserted, so that the medicine diffuses from the skin to the area around the vas deferens. 2. Use a small sharp knife to make a small incision at the local anesthesia needle hole. The incision length should not exceed 0.4 cm. Use the separation forceps to fix the vas deferens directly to the vas deferens and slightly separate it along the longitudinal axis of the vas deferens. Then extend the vas deferens fixing forceps into the incision to clamp the vas deferens and pull it out of the incision.

3. Use mosquito forceps to separate the tunica vaginalis and blood vessels of the vas deferens. After freeing the vas deferens 1-1.5 cm, use two mosquito hemostatic forceps to clamp the vas deferens at the upper and lower parts of the separated section, and then remove the fixing forceps. 4. Cut and ligate the free part of the vas deferens, twist it with hemostatic forceps, and ligate both ends with No. 1 silk thread, with a spacing of 1.5 cm. Lift the ligature and cut off about 1 cm of the vas deferens. Check for bleeding, cut the ligature, isolate the separated ends from the distal end with the spermatic cord fascia, and then put them into the skin wound. Stop the bleeding carefully. The skin wound does not need to be sutured, but the skin edges must be aligned. 5. Treat the other vas deferens in the same way. After the operation, cover the wound with sterile gauze and fix it with adhesive tape.

Precautions

1. Get preoperative consultation to relieve your worries; 2. If small purple patches appear around the scrotal incision after surgery, there is no need to see a doctor. If the scrotum is swollen, the skin shows gradually expanding purple or bleeding, etc., timely diagnosis and treatment should be sought; 3. No sexual intercourse within two weeks after surgery, pay attention to rest, avoid heavy physical labor and strenuous exercise; 4. Contraception must be continued for 3 months after surgery.
