Diet one week after vocal cord polyp surgery

Diet one week after vocal cord polyp surgery

After vocal cord polyp surgery, you should strengthen your care, get enough rest, keep silent and not talk. You should also strengthen your diet and eat more foods rich in vitamins. This can prevent edema of the mucous membrane in the throat. Of course, you cannot eat greasy, spicy and irritating foods. You should eat a lighter diet and avoid foods that are easy to cause inflammation. You can drink more water and eat more foods that clear away heat, detoxify and reduce fire.

Diet one week after vocal cord polyp surgery

1. Vitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin B should be supplemented in the diet. If you lack vitamin A, your nose and throat will become dry and inflamed; vitamin B can maintain the normal functions of the ears, nose and throat. A lack of vitamin C can easily lead to nasal mucosal bleeding and vocal cord weakness.

2. Eat less or no fried, pan-fried, or greasy food. Also, it is best to eat less overly sweet or salty food.

3. Do not drink excessively or eat spicy foods: because alcohol and foods such as garlic, chili, and pepper are the most irritating to the oral cavity, throat, and esophageal mucosa, which can easily cause congestion and swelling in these areas and cause voice disorders.

4. Eat less hot foods, such as Chinese mustard greens, leeks, etc.; eat more mung beans, lilies, white fungus, lotus seeds, loofah, lentils, kelp, winter melon, etc.

5. Eat less fried nuts such as melon seeds and peanuts, because they are hot and can damage the yin. At the same time, a large amount of saliva is lost during the eating process, which further damages the yin, causing the throat to lack moisture and nourishment, making the throat drier.

6. Eat less cold or hot food. Overheated food can easily cause congestion of the throat mucosa, affecting pronunciation and resonance. Too cold food can cause abnormal contraction of the throat muscles and vasospasm, obstructing venous blood return, causing mucosal damage, and affecting the normal function of the laryngeal muscles and vocal cords.

7. Eat more foods that are good for the throat, such as apples, pears, oranges, bananas, green radishes, tomatoes, cucumbers, Chinese cabbage, rapeseed, celery, spinach, honey, tofu, soy milk, eggs, etc. These light foods are beneficial for moisturizing the throat, clearing the throat and opening the voice, and contain a variety of vitamins and inorganic salts, which are beneficial for maintaining health.
