Gastrointestinal diseases. Everyone knows that although gastrointestinal diseases are minor illnesses, the harm to the human body cannot be underestimated. Gastrointestinal diseases are usually checked in the hospital, and doctors usually ask patients to do colonoscopy. Most people don’t know much about colonoscopy, so can you drink water before colonoscopy? In fact, you can drink water before doing a colonoscopy, but you cannot eat and need to be on an empty stomach. Painless colonoscopy, also known as sedation-conscious gastroenteroscopy, is very popular among patients because of its advantages of few complications and quick recovery. Most patients feel good during or after the operation. However, this examination has certain precautions. So, can I drink water before a colonoscopy? You can drink water before the colonoscopy. During the colonoscopy, the intestines must be clean. Please prepare according to the following requirements: 1. Eat easily digestible food two days before the examination. Do not eat kelp, leek, green vegetables, celery and various seasonal fruits (especially seeds and peel fruits). 2. Do not eat before the physical examination on the day of examination. 3. Patients over 60 years old must present an electrocardiogram report within 7 days of the examination on the day of examination. 4. Patients are requested to bring a tube of gastroscopy gel with them during the examination (it is an external medication during the examination, please do not take it orally. The medication will be prescribed by the doctor who issued the colonoscopy order). 5. For those who suffer from long-term constipation and difficulty in defecation, please take 20 grams of senna leaves (brew with boiling water 2-3 times, drink the water only) at 8 pm the night before. 6. Colonoscopy is prohibited during menstruation. 7. Patients who are undergoing follow-up examinations are requested to bring along their past examination reports for comparison. 8. Please arrive at the Endoscopy Center (third floor) at the appointment registration desk at the appointment time, sign the examination consent form, pay the deposit to receive the changing room key, change into disposable sanitary pants, and wait for the examination in the waiting area outside the examination room. Please inform the endoscopy center appointment registration desk when the bowel is prepared. 9. Oral laxatives: A. Mannitol: Take mannitol orally at 6:00 am on the morning of the examination (if mannitol is in powder form, dissolve it in 200 ml of water; if mannitol is in injection form, drink one bottle). Take salt and sugar water orally after 6:30 (Salt and sugar water: boiled water with appropriate amount of sugar and salt, drink 2000ml, equivalent to four bottles of mineral water); B. Sodium phosphate oral solution: take sodium phosphate oral solution orally at 5:00 am on the morning of the examination, 45ml/bottle each time, diluted with more than 750ml of warm boiled water before taking. In order to obtain good bowel preparation, patients are advised to drink more water within their tolerance and be sure to move around during the medication process. It is recommended to mix it with other colorless fruit-flavored sports drinks (containing carbohydrates, electrolytes, etc.) for a better taste, better replenishment of lost electrolytes and energy, and more fully meeting the personalized needs of patients; C. Compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder (Heshuang ○R): Add one bag of 137.15 grams or two bags of 68.56 grams of Heshuang to cold boiled water to make 2000 ml of solution, and take it at a rate of 1000 ml per hour. It is recommended to take 250 ml in 15 minutes. Try to drink it in big gulps. Please be sure to walk back and forth during the medication, otherwise it will seriously affect the bowel cleansing effect. In order to obtain a good intestinal preparation effect, it is recommended that patients drink more water within the tolerable range after taking the medicine, and please be sure to walk back and forth during the medication. 10. Generally, bowel movements will occur after taking mannitol and sodium phosphate oral solution. It is better if the bowel movement frequency is more than 6 times and the discharge is colorless or yellow transparent watery stool. If you have infrequent bowel movements, drink water and exercise. People who take compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder (Heshuang ○R) usually start to have their first bowel movement about an hour after taking the medicine. After 5-8 bowel movements, when the excretion is colorless or yellow transparent watery stool, intestinal preparation is completed. If the last discharge is tangible stool or stool with residue, you need to take more medicine and cool down until the discharge is colorless or yellow transparent watery stool, but the total amount must not exceed 4000ml. Please be sure to take the above-mentioned laxatives according to their dosing instructions, and be sure to wait until your intestines are clean before undergoing colonoscopy, otherwise it will seriously affect the results of the examination. |
