How to rub your belly to help with bowel movements?

Many of us suffer from constipation in our daily lives. There are many reasons for constipation, which may be caused by irregular diet or slow gastrointestinal motility. There is a popular saying on the Internet and on TV that massaging the abdomen can help with defecation. This is correct. Gently massaging the abdomen can promote intestinal peristalsis and generate force to push feces downward in the intestines. So how can you rub the abdomen to better help defecation?

The specific method is:

① Use your fingertips to gently massage your abdomen slowly and evenly from bottom to top, repeat several times.

② After rubbing your hands until warm, place one palm on your navel and, applying a little force, rub in a circular motion with the navel as the center. First rub in a clockwise direction, expanding outwards while rubbing until it reaches the xiphoid process and the pubic bone; then rub back to the navel in a counterclockwise direction from large to small. Repeat this several times.

③ You can also lie on your back, rub your palms together until they are warm, then place your hands together under the right abdomen, and rotate them around the abdomen in a clockwise direction for a total of 30 circles. This direction is exactly the same as the direction of feces flowing in the large intestine, which helps the flow of stool. This method is suitable for use when sitting on the toilet.

While insisting on exercising, your life should also be regular.

1. Develop good bowel habits

Provide health education to help patients establish normal bowel movement behavior. You can practice having a bowel movement every morning. Even if you don't feel like doing it, you can wait a while to form a conditioned reflex. At the same time, create a quiet and comfortable environment and choose a sit-down toilet.

2. Eat a healthy diet

The elderly should eat more grains and vegetables, fruits, and beans containing crude fiber, and drink plenty of water, at least 1500 ml of water a day, especially a glass of warm water in the morning or before meals, which can effectively prevent constipation. In addition, you should eat some foods that have a laxative effect, such as black sesame, honey, bananas, etc.

3. other

Prevent or avoid using medicines that cause constipation, do not abuse laxatives, actively treat systemic and perianal diseases, and adjust your mental state. A good mental state helps establish a normal defecation reflex.
