Now that people's lives have become better, many people like to keep pets. Dogs are one of people's favorite pets, especially golden retrievers, which are more lovable with their silly and cute appearance. However, many owners have discovered that golden retrievers have small red spots on their bellies, and many dogs often lick their bellies. This is because the dog has eczema on its belly. So what should you do if your dog has eczema on its belly? Canine eczema is a common phenomenon and refers to an inflammatory response of the epidermal cells of the dog's skin to allergens. Symptoms include skin injuries such as papules, erythema, scabs, blisters, erosions, as well as heat, pain, and itching. During an acute attack, the affected area will present as erythematous eczema in the form of dots or different shapes, and the dog's body will suffer from severe itching. Subsequently, different symptoms may appear, such as the papule stage, vesicle stage, pustule stage, and erosion stage. During the pustular and erosive stages, the skin emits an abnormal odor. During the illness, dogs' scratching and rubbing due to itchy skin will cause the inflammation to worsen. If not treated promptly, the condition can turn into a chronic condition. The dog's back or limbs may experience thickening, desquamation, pigmentation, coarse and stiff fur, and increased itching. The disease may recur and sometimes last for several years. There are many causes of dog eczema, including contact with allergic substances, excessive licking, biting, scratching, bites from mosquitoes and external parasites; stimulation from some drugs; unclean skin, dirt irritation, humid living environment, lack of certain nutrients in the body, etc. In addition to eliminating the above-mentioned pathogenic factors, the main method of treating dog eczema is desensitization. 1. You can take dexamethasone tablets 0.2 mg/kg body weight or prednisone acetate tablets 1.0 mg/kg body weight orally. After trimming the affected area, apply Fuqingsong or Piyanping ointment on the skin. To prevent skin infection, it can also be applied alternately with erythromycin ointment. If the abscess is inflamed, gentamicin or penicillin can be injected intramuscularly to prevent infection. In cases with more severe symptoms, it can be mixed with dexamethasone injection and injected intramuscularly twice a day. 2. Apply Saifukang ointment, external ointment once in the morning and once in the evening every day until the disease is cured. 3. Diphenhydramine injection, 2-4 mg/kg body weight, intramuscular injection, once a day. 4. Chlorpheniramine injection, 0.5~1 mg/kg body weight, intramuscular injection, once a day. Key points summary: 1. This disease is very likely to recur if the environment is not improved in time after it is cured. 2. High air humidity in summer and autumn (the owner lives on the third floor or below) is the main cause of eczema. 3. The affected areas are mostly the elbows, inner thighs, lower abdomen and other areas with thin skin and sparse hair or areas that often come into contact with the ground. |
