Many people always think that eye twitching indicates that something is about to happen. In fact, it is not like that. Eye twitching is a type of facial spasm and also a type of eye nerve spasm. It has nothing to do with superstition. It is a physiological phenomenon. If people do not sleep well and often stay up late, this kind of nervous twitching will occur. You should pay more attention to it in daily life. Pathological eyelid twitching is actually "facial spasm" "Why does that person have eyelid twitching? Is eyelid twitching a disease?" In fact, eyelid twitching does have two types, but it is not determined by which eye is twitching, and there is no such thing as predicting good or bad luck. Eyelid twitching can be divided into two types: physiological and pathological. Physiological eyelid twitching mostly occurs in the following situations: work stress, excessive fatigue, excessive use of eyes, poor sleep the day before, etc. These physiological eyelid twitching do not require medical treatment. But there is another situation of eyelid twitching, which is pathological, and that is "facial spasm". Eyelid twitching caused by hemifacial spasm is actually a signal of disease. As symptoms such as eyelid twitching worsen, this disease will seriously affect a person's life and work. Ms. Xu mentioned above is a typical case. From this perspective, eyelid twitching can actually serve as a warning of disaster. Hemifacial spasm, also known as clonic hemifacial spasm, is characterized by involuntary paroxysmal twitching of the facial muscles on one side. It usually starts with eyelid twitching and gradually involves the facial expression muscles, corners of the mouth, and neck muscles. The twitching worsens when you are emotionally nervous or tired. The disease only occurs in adults and progresses slowly, eventually leading to atrophy of the facial muscles on the affected side, a condition called "paralytic facial palsy," which seriously affects the patient's quality of life. The main cause of hemifacial spasm is compression of the facial nerve root by the pulsating tortuous and elongated intracranial arteries. Usually nerves and blood vessels are very close to each other, but under normal circumstances, nerves and blood vessels do not interfere with each other, each goes its own way, and there is no interaction between them. However, due to various reasons, the blood vessels are displaced. For example, the blood vessels are pushed and compressed by other proliferating tissues and the pulsation of the blood vessels affects the nerves. When the blood vessels pulsate, the nerves "tremble" along. The compressed part of the nerves is impacted by the blood vessels for a long time and will gradually "damage". The muscles in the area it controls will contract and beat abnormally. Microvascular decompression is the most ideal treatment method "Microvascular decompression" is a minimally invasive cranial surgery and the only ideal way to treat hemifacial spasm from an etiological perspective. It can cure the disease while completely preserving the function of the facial nerve. Professor Chen Guoqiang of the Air Force General Hospital has devoted himself to the study of this disease for more than 30 years. He has made a lot of technical improvements to this type of surgery, raising the surgical cure rate to 98%, exceeding the international advanced level. So far, he has relieved the pain of more than 10,000 patients. |
