Everyone's head shape is different. Some people have bulges on both sides of their heads. So why do they have bulges on both sides of their heads? This condition is most likely due to genetics and is normal. At the same time, bulges on both sides of the head may also be caused by osteoporosis. Now let me give you some relevant knowledge about osteoporosis, and you can refer to it for comparison. What causes osteoporosis? Five major causes of osteoporosis in the elderly 1. Endocrine factors Female patients suffer from osteoporosis due to estrogen deficiency, while male patients suffer from osteoporosis due to decreased testosterone levels caused by sexual dysfunction. Osteoporosis is particularly common in postmenopausal women, and premature ovarian failure causes osteoporosis to occur earlier, suggesting that estrogen reduction is an important factor in the occurrence of osteoporosis. Within 5 years after menopause, there will be a sudden and significant acceleration of bone loss, and it is common to lose 2% to 5% bone mass each year. About 20% to 30% of early menopausal women lose >3% of bone mass per year, known as rapid bone losers, while 70% to 80% of women lose <3% of bone mass per year, known as normal bone losers. Thin women are more prone to osteoporosis and fractures than obese women, which is the result of the conversion of androgens into estrogen in the latter's adipose tissue. Compared with normal women of similar age, there is no significant difference in blood estrogen levels in osteoporosis patients, indicating that estrogen reduction is not the only factor causing osteoporosis. 2. Genetic factors Osteoporosis is more common in whites, especially Northern Europeans, followed by Asians, and less common in blacks. Bone density is an important indicator for diagnosing osteoporosis. Bone density values are mainly determined by genetic factors, and secondly by environmental factors. It has been reported that the difference in bone density between young dizygotic twins is 4 times that between monozygotic twins; and the difference in bone density between adult dizygotic twins is 19 times that of monozygotic twins. Recent studies have pointed out that bone density is closely related to the polymorphism of vitamin D receptor genotype. In 1994, Morrison et al. reported that vitamin D receptor genotype can predict differences in bone density, accounting for 75% of the entire genetic influence. After adjusting for various environmental factors, the bone density of bb genotype people can be about 15% higher than that of BB genotype. In terms of the incidence of vertebral fractures, those with the bb genotype may develop fractures about 10 years later than those with the BB type, while in terms of the incidence of hip fractures, those with the bb genotype are only 1/4 of those with the BB type. The preliminary results of this study show that there are great differences between races and countries, and the final results still need further in-depth research. Other studies on the relationship between collagen genes and estrogen receptor genes and osteoporosis have also been reported, but there is no definite conclusion yet. |
