What is scrofula?
Scrofula sputum nodule is relatively unfamiliar to most people. In fact, it is also a clinical disease, but since many people have never heard of it, they don’t know much about diseases like scrofula sputum nodule. The causes of scrofula sputum nodules are quite complicated. When treating, we should also pay attention to the symptoms and also learn more about the nature of this type of disease. So what exactly is scrofula sputum nodules?

1. Phlegm nodules refer to subcutaneous swellings like nodules, which are mostly formed by the accumulation of wet phlegm. The number of nodules varies, and they are not red or swollen, hard or painful. When touched by hand, they are soft and smooth like fruit nodules and can be moved. They generally do not fester or rupture. Phlegm nodules mostly grow on the neck, nape, and chin, but can also be seen on the limbs, shoulders and back. Those that occur in the upper part of the body are mostly accompanied by wind-heat, while those that occur in the lower part of the body are mostly accompanied by damp-heat.

2. For the treatment of phlegm nodules, the nodules are also in clusters, ranging from three to five, and are mostly grown under the left and right cheeks, or on the left and right chins. There are five types: qi, blood, wind, phlegm, and wine. Although there are five names, the root is the same. The treatment method should distinguish between deficiency and excess, and cannot be generalized. If a man suffers from fire disease before developing phlegm nodules, it is because of the excessive fire that produces phlegm; if a woman suffers from fire disease before developing phlegm nodules, such as midnight and noon fever, and has a weak constitution, and then develops phlegm nodules (i.e. glandular tuberculosis), she can be treated according to the method of scrofula to remove the nodules. Unfortunately, nine out of ten cases are incurable, so the patient’s family should be informed in advance to avoid criticism when the disease fails to be cured. The treatment method is the same as that for scrofula. Take nine pills and apply the detoxifying ointment. After the nodules fall out, wash them with fumigation and washing soup, and then use Jiawei Tianran Powder to finish the treatment.

3. Other phlegm nodules are scrofula, which are caused by the stagnant fire in the Shaoyang meridian. The disease is mostly caused by a weak spleen and accumulation of damp phlegm under the skin. Symptoms include the growth of nodules in the skin of varying sizes. The lumps are neither red nor hot, and are not painful or hard. They can be moved by pushing. They often occur on the neck, chin, limbs, and back. Treatment should focus on clearing phlegm and regulating qi. Those born in the upper part of the body are mostly accompanied by wind-heat, while those born in the lower part are mostly accompanied by dampness-heat.
