Blood reflux in the heart

Blood reflux in the heart

Everyone knows that the heart is of great significance to our lives. When there is a problem with the heart, it will directly affect our life safety. When we go to the hospital for examination when we are sick, if the doctor requires a heart examination, many people will feel very nervous. During heart activity, the heart valves play a role in protecting the heart and guiding the direction of blood flow in the heart. When there is a problem with the heart valves, blood in the heart will flow back.

What is cardiac regurgitation

During the activity of the heart, the heart valves play the role of regulating and guiding the direction of blood flow. Taking the mitral valve and aortic valve as an example, when the heart contracts, the mitral valve closes and the aortic valve opens, so the blood has to flow into the aorta and will not flow back into the left atrium; when the heart relaxes, the mitral valve opens and the aortic valve closes, so only the blood in the left atrium flows into the left ventricle, and the blood in the aorta will not flow back into the left ventricle.

The so-called "mitral regurgitation" means that the mitral valve does not close completely when the heart contracts, causing blood to flow backwards from the left ventricle to the left atrium. The so-called "aortic regurgitation" means that the aortic valve does not close tightly during diastole, causing blood to flow backwards from the aorta into the left ventricle. To put it more simply, the "lid" that should be closed is not closed tightly, so the things inside will escape.

Causes of heart blood reflux

The causes of valvular regurgitation can be organic, functional or physiological. Therefore, we must first determine the nature of the heart valve regurgitation, whether it is physiological or pathological, that is, whether this result has important clinical significance, and whether it can reflect or represent the existence of heart disease or other diseases. There are many pathological causes of valvular regurgitation, such as valve prolapse, rheumatic valvular disease, infectious inflammation of the valve, heart enlargement, etc. At the same time, some other reasons, such as valvular hardening due to aging, can also lead to the occurrence of valvular regurgitation.

Heart blood reflux treatment

When valvular regurgitation occurs, it is generally necessary to first determine whether the nature of the heart valve regurgitation is physiological or pathological. This can be judged from the following two aspects.

First of all, it is based on the severity of the heart valve regurgitation: generally speaking, mild or mild reflux is more likely to be physiological or functional, while moderate or severe reflux is mostly pathological or organic. When the reflux is mild and there is no underlying heart disease, it is often related to decreased organ function in the elderly and generally does not require treatment.
