I have hives every night.

Urticaria can be considered a relatively common disease. This disease not only affects a wide range of people, but also has many symptoms. The onset time period is also different for different people. For example, some people develop the disease more suddenly. Another example is that some people will develop urticaria at night. There are certain reasons for this. So why do people get urticaria every night?

The reasons why urticaria itching worsens at night: 1. The secretion of hormones is the highest in the morning and relatively less at night. Its function of inhibiting the release of allergic mediators is weakened, so urticaria is often more severe at night. 2. When people sleep, they are often in a state of vagus nerve excitement and sympathetic nerve inhibition, and the vagus nerve controls and acts on bronchial smooth muscles. The increased excitement of the vagus nerve will cause contraction of the bronchial smooth muscle, thereby causing spasm of the bronchial smooth muscle, airway narrowing and difficulty in exhalation. 3. At night, patients are more affected by inhaled allergies. The fillings of pillows and quilts of patients are often filled with animal fur and other debris, and the particles they carry are often factors that cause allergies. 4. The main reason for the itching of urticaria at night is that the human body functions are weakened at night, the blood flow is slow, and the skin lacks nutrition, so the itching is more severe at night. 5. People have less activity at night, are less disturbed by the outside world, are more sensitive to their own changes, and have more severe itching. 6. The temperature at night is relatively low, and the cold air inhaled into the respiratory tract causes bronchial smooth muscle relaxation and relaxation disorders, which aggravates the wheezing and shortness of breath. 7. When people sleep at night, the mechanical perception function of the chest is weakened, and airway secretions are not discharged smoothly. Blockage or irritation of the airway can cause attacks of wheezing. Moreover, after sleep, the airway is in a state of natural or fatigue relaxation, and phlegm accumulates, blocking the airway and causing laryngeal obstruction.

Diagnosis of urticaria: It is easy to diagnose urticaria, but it is more difficult to determine the cause. Common examinations include asking about medical history, testing antinuclear antibodies and IgE antibodies. Elevated IgE antibodies are very helpful in diagnosing urticaria.

Treatment of urticaria : Oral antihistamines: such as loratadine, chlorpheniramine and cyproheptadine, which can compete for histamine in the body and effectively relieve skin allergy symptoms. However, antihistamines do not inhibit the production of histamine and therefore cannot prevent recurrence of urticaria. Moreover, histamine products have a nerve-inhibiting effect, and adverse reactions such as dizziness and drowsiness are likely to occur after taking them. Long-term use can cause greater damage to the liver and kidneys.

Topical medication treatment: Most people will choose hormone ointments, such as dexamethasone ointment, Fuqingsong, etc. Although they can quickly control skin allergy symptoms, the allergic symptoms will recur once they are discontinued. Long-term use of hormone ointments will cause the skin to lose its normal defense and self-protection ability, and eventually lead to hormone-dependent dermatitis.

Traditional Chinese medicine treatment: some traditional Chinese medicines with heat-clearing and toxin-eliminating effects are often used for treatment. Although it can clear out the dampness, toxins and damp heat in the body, unclog the circulation channels in the body and achieve the improvement of eliminating toxins and purging fire, it does not change the root cause of urticaria and therefore cannot prevent its recurrence.
