Maxillary protrusion refers to the normal position of the mandible in the head, with the upper jaw protruding forward in front of the lower jaw, forming a deep overbite. It is a very common tooth and jaw deformity, which can be caused by heredity, bad habits and diseases. Causes The causes include congenital factors and acquired factors: 1. Congenital factors Maternal malnutrition during pregnancy, endocrine disorders and injuries can affect the growth and development of the fetus; the posture and position of the fetus in the uterus, such as hand or shoulder compression of half of the maxillofacial area, may also cause unilateral jaw development disorders. 2. Acquired factors such as bad habits, jaw trauma in childhood, osteomyelitis, malnutrition, endocrine dysfunction, etc. can affect the normal development of the jaw and cause jaw deformities.

Treatment 1. Eliminate the cause and take appropriate measures to prevent its onset and block its development. 2. Remove supernumerary teeth in the upper dental arch, correct bad habits, treat systemic diseases including nasal respiratory diseases, correct front tooth misalignment, and coordinate the length and size of the upper and lower dental arches. 3. Correct the distal position of the mandible at an early stage to stimulate normal development of the mandible and inhibit excessive development of the maxilla.

4. Orthognathic surgery can be performed for those with severe jaw deformity. 5. For those who need surgical treatment, they can follow the doctor's instructions before and after the operation and take routine anti-infection drugs.
