What causes cerebral palsy? Four factors are the most common

In life, when a child suffers from cerebral palsy, I believe that many parents will suffer a mental breakdown. Generally speaking, after confirming that the child has cerebral palsy, parents also need to understand the cause of the child's cerebral palsy.

1. Maternal factors:

Children born to older primiparas, younger mothers, those who take drugs, smoke, drink, take long-term medications, are exposed to chemicals and radiation, have infections during pregnancy, and have various other diseases are more likely to develop cerebral palsy and require regular follow-up.

2. Genetic factors:

Children born to parents who are close relatives often suffer from various genetic diseases, and genetic factors may also interfere with the development of the child's brain tissue. Therefore, families with consanguineous marriages should be considered as high-risk factors for the occurrence of cerebral palsy in children. Moreover, the incidence of cerebral palsy in children is also higher in families with a history of genetic diseases, neurological diseases, etc.

3. Postnatal factors:

Postnatal factors refer to factors that occur 7 days after the birth of the newborn. Among them, intracranial hemorrhage caused by central nervous system infection (purulent meningitis, herpes virus encephalitis, etc.) and late-onset vitamin K deficiency is particularly important and common. In addition, what are the triggering factors of neonatal convulsions and cerebral palsy in children? Neonatal jaundice migration, severe anemia within one week after birth, electric blanket care for several weeks after birth, etc. can all become high-risk factors for cerebral palsy in children after birth.

4. Neonatal factors:

Any situation that may cause ischemia, hypoxia, or damage to the brain tissue before, during, or after birth may lead to cerebral palsy. Common ones include fetal distress, neonatal asphyxia, birth trauma, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, respiratory distress syndrome, sleep apnea, etc. In addition, premature babies, low-birth-weight babies, multiple fetuses, and severe neonatal jaundice are also prone to cerebral palsy and need to be closely monitored.
