Gas in the stomach, also known as bloating, is a problem that many people have experienced. As a common symptom, there are many reasons for abdominal bloating, such as stomach, bile duct diseases, intestinal diseases, gastrointestinal functional diseases, pancreatic diseases, liver diseases, peritoneal diseases, acute infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases and some other diseases, which can cause abdominal bloating to a certain extent, and different countermeasures need to be taken according to the cause!

1. Stomach and bile duct diseases (27%):

 

Gastric disease is one of the important causes of abdominal bloating, and is seen in chronic gastritis, chronic atrophic gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric dilatation, gastric torsion, gastric ptosis, pyloric obstruction and gastric cancer. Biliary tract diseases: such as acute and chronic cholecystitis, cholelithiasis and bile duct obstruction caused by various reasons.

2. Intestinal diseases (25%):

It is also an important cause of abdominal distension, and is more common in acute and chronic intestinal infections (such as bacterial dysentery, amoebic enteritis, intestinal tuberculosis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, etc.), malabsorption syndrome, acute and chronic intestinal obstruction, pseudo-intestinal obstruction, intestinal diverticular disease, constipation caused by various reasons, etc.

3. Gastrointestinal functional and pancreatic diseases (15%):

Such as aerophagia, intractable hiccups, functional dyspepsia (non-ulcer dyspepsia), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), etc. Pancreatic diseases: such as acute and chronic pancreatitis, giant pancreatic cysts, pancreatic cancer, etc.

4. Liver disease (12%)

It is also an important cause of abdominal distension, and is more common in acute and chronic hepatitis, especially severe hepatitis (abdominal distension is one of the main and stubborn symptoms), cirrhosis (abdominal distension is often the main symptom of early cirrhosis), liver abscess, liver cancer, etc.

5. Peritoneal, acute infectious, and cardiovascular diseases (10%):

Peritoneal diseases: such as acute suppurative peritonitis, tuberculous peritonitis, peritoneal cancer, etc. Acute infectious diseases: such as shock pneumonia, typhoid fever, severe tuberculosis and sepsis, etc. Cardiovascular disease: seen in acute and chronic congestive heart failure (especially right heart failure), mesenteric vascular embolism or thrombosis, etc.

6. Other causes (5%):

Such as chronic renal insufficiency, electrolyte and acid-base metabolism disorders, connective tissue diseases, diabetic gastroparesis, blood system diseases, central nervous system or spinal cord lesions, pleural effusion and ascites caused by various reasons, etc.
