What happens if you have an abortion twice a year?

Nowadays, many young people do not pay much attention to their physical health. Many people often have the habit of frequent abortions because of the constant occurrence of unexpected pregnancies, which may be caused by untimely contraception or unsuccessful contraception. If they have two abortions within a year, it will lead to habitual abortion problems and may even cause infertility.

1. Habitual abortion

Too many abortions can easily lead to habitual miscarriage, and the more abortions you have, the greater the possibility of miscarriage. Each miscarriage usually occurs in the same month of pregnancy and is similar to a general miscarriage.

The causes of early miscarriage are often corpus luteum deficiency, low thyroid function, chromosomal abnormalities, etc.

The most common causes of late miscarriage are cervical os dilatation, uterine deformity, uterine fibroids, etc. The internal os of the cervix is loose after pregnancy, usually in the second trimester. As the fetus grows, the amniotic fluid increases, the gravity in the uterine cavity increases, the fetal sac protrudes toward the internal os of the cervix, and the cervix gradually shortens and expands.

Most patients have no self-aware symptoms, and the fetus can be expelled after the fetal membrane is ruptured. If the bleeding time is too long, tissue remains in the uterine cavity or an improper abortion occurs, it is estimated to cause intrauterine infection. In severe cases, the infection can spread to the pelvic cavity, abdominal cavity and even the whole body, with complications such as pelvic inflammatory disease, peritonitis, sepsis and infectious shock, which is called abortion infection.

2. Menstrual disorders

Frequent abortions may lead to menstrual disorders. A small number of patients may have irregular cycles and prolonged menstruation, while a large number of patients may experience increased menstrual flow after abortion.

3. Uterine perforation

The greater the gestational age, the higher the risk. The more miscarriages you have, the greater the chance of perforation. Other conditions, such as abnormal uterine position or shape, or previous uterine surgery (such as cesarean section or myomectomy), all increase the chance of perforation.

4. Cervical or endometrial adhesion

During an artificial abortion, if the doctor's technique is too rough, it is very likely to cause injury or inflammation of the cervix or endometrium, and there may be postoperative adhesion of the cervix or endometrium. Cervical adhesion can cause blood accumulation in the uterine cavity and cause menstrual abnormalities, such as amenorrhea or too little menstrual flow. In severe cases, infertility may occur in the future.

5. Cervical injury

During the abortion process, if you are not careful and the cervix dilates too quickly, it may cause damage to the cervix and make future pregnancies more likely to result in miscarriage, especially for women who are pregnant for the first time or have not yet given birth.

6. Incomplete abortion

If the operation is not performed completely, a small amount of fetal tissue will remain in the uterus, which may affect uterine contractions and cause continuous bleeding or cause adhesions, infections, etc. It is best to perform another careful surgery to remove the remaining tissue. Abnormal position or shape of the uterus is generally more likely to cause this sequelae.

7. Bacterial infection

If the instruments are not completely sterilized, or the surgeon himself does not pay attention to the aseptic process, it may cause intrauterine infection and even continue to spread upward to invade the fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity. In severe cases, it may result in ectopic pregnancy or infertility in the future.

8. Intrauterine indoctrination

Frequent abortions may lead to intrauterine infection or intrauterine infection.

Intrauterine infection refers to an infection caused by bacteria from the vagina or cervix entering the uterus due to premature rupture of the placenta, fetal membranes, amniotic fluid or fetus due to premature rupture of membranes before or during delivery. It can persist until postpartum or clinical symptoms may begin to appear after delivery, which can cause serious effects on the mother and fetus, and cause neonatal pneumonia, sepsis or meningitis. If the pregnant woman has a vaginal delivery, the urgency of postpartum labor syndrome is lower. If the pregnant woman has a cesarean section, it may develop into postpartum endometritis, peritonitis, thrombophlebitis, sepsis, and even death.

9. Lifelong infertility

Frequent abortions may lead to lifelong infertility.

Repeated surgeries result in repeated scraping of the endometrium, which causes the uterine wall to become thinner and the endometrium to become less and less, leading to serious consequences such as oligomenorrhea, gynecological inflammation, lifelong infertility, and even death. For example, endometritis, adnexitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and uterine perforation leading to lifelong infertility are more likely to occur in people who have undergone multiple abortions. Leading to oligomenorrhea or even amenorrhea. If the fertilized egg implants but does not have good "soil", it cannot develop into an embryo, thus resulting in infertility throughout life.
