The patient's pain area is around the trigeminal neuralgia, usually occurring on one side, involving mostly one branch, with the most common being the combined pain of the second and third branches on one side. Sometimes it is accompanied by facial redness, increased skin temperature, conjunctival congestion, tearing, increased salivation, nasal mucosal congestion and runny nose, etc.

The pain is very uncomfortable, with paroxysmal electric shock, knife-like, and tearing-like severe pains, which come on and off suddenly, usually without warning, and the intervals are completely normal. Each pain lasts from a few seconds to 1 to 2 minutes, with the intervals between attacks gradually shortening and the pain gradually becoming more severe.
