The difference between Cyperus rotundus and Cyperus rotundus

This product is a commonly used Chinese medicine. It was first recorded in "Ming Yi Bie Lu" and listed as a medium-grade product. Characteristic identification: The underground stem is slightly spindle-shaped and varies in size; about 1.5 to 3 cm long and 0.5 to 1 cm in diameter. The surface is dark brown. All of them have most of the stage patterns, dark brown hairs and residual root marks (the one with hairs is called hairy cyperus, the one without hairs is called smooth cyperus, and the one without the epidermis is called rice cyperus).

The texture is hard, the broken surface after steaming is shiny and purple in color, while the directly dried one is white and powdery. There is a clear gradation between the epidermis and the center point, the center color is slightly darker, and there are gray-black spotted conductive tissues scattered around. It has a fragrant aroma and a bitter taste. The best ones are those with large grains, purple-red color, bright and smooth texture, firm texture and strong fragrance.
