Will the second child be born early?

Will the second child be born earlier than the first? The birth of the second child is generally earlier than the first, and the specific time depends on the actual personal situation of the pregnant woman. If you want to know when your baby will arrive, the best way is to calculate the due date. Because every woman's menstrual cycle is different and the condition of the fetus during pregnancy is different, it is normal for the expected date of delivery and the delivery date to differ by 1-2 weeks. So how do you calculate the due date?

There are several ways to calculate the due date:

1. Calculated based on the last menstrual period: the month of the last menstrual period + 9 is the expected month of delivery; the last menstrual period + 7 is the expected day of delivery. For example: Ms. Zhang’s last menstrual period was March 13, 2012, and her due date is December 20, 2012.

2. You can count backwards from the first day of the last menstrual period to the 280th day, which is the expected date of delivery.

The interval between the second and first births

The average time for primiparas is 13.5-17.5 hours; for multiparas, it is 6.5-8.5 hours. The second birth, as long as there are no accidents or special circumstances, is generally easier than the first, because the birth canal has been expanded by the first birth, so it will be smoother. The birth of the second child is faster than that of the first child, and the first and second stages of labor are usually faster than those of the first child.

However, if the expectant mother has a pathological condition during delivery, or is an elderly pregnant woman, it is a different matter.

Special circumstances

If the first child was born by caesarean section, and the second child was born naturally, then the second birth can actually only be considered the first natural birth, so there is no such thing as "smoother". Or you may have to have a caesarean section.

What are the problems if the two babies are too close together?

The mother's body is in a state of combat during pregnancy and childbirth. The weight gain during pregnancy exceeds 20%, and hormone secretion also changes significantly. In particular, the structure of the pelvic cavity will be expanded by the pregnant uterus. Therefore, within one year after delivery, the pelvic muscles will be quite relaxed. If pregnancies are spaced too closely together, women may have the following problems:

The pelvis is prone to permanent relaxation, which may lead to urinary incontinence, uterine prolapse and other diseases in the future, and the body shape may also be easily distorted.

Osteoporosis: During pregnancy, the fetus absorbs nutrients from the mother to grow, and it takes some time for the mother to replenish the nutrients she loses, especially the loss of calcium. As the saying goes: when you give birth to a child, you lose a tooth, which means that the loss of calcium ions is particularly serious during pregnancy. If pregnancies are spaced too closely together, the body's calcium will not be replenished in time, which can easily lead to the risk of osteoporosis for the mother in the future.

It is not good for the fetus either: Foreign studies have shown that if the interval between the birth of the previous child and the pregnancy of the next child is less than six months, the probability of premature birth and low birth weight (less than 2500 grams) in the next child will increase by 40% compared to the normal fetus; if the interval is within one year, the risk of premature birth and low birth weight will also increase by about 10%.
