Dull pain in right hip

Dull pain in right hip

The hip bone, medically known as the "hip bone", refers specifically to the bony structure in the human buttocks. Many people usually have symptoms of hip pain. Some people always have a dull pain in the right hip, while others have pain in the left hip. There are many reasons for hip pain. If you accidentally sprain your hip while working, or lie on your side while sleeping and cause your hip to be compressed, or you have bone hyperplasia or sciatica, these can all cause hip pain.

1. What causes hip pain?

1. Sprain: You may get sprained accidentally while working or doing heavy work.

2. Catching a cold: Maybe you caught a cold while sleeping.

3. Nerve compression: Sleeping on your side can easily cause compression injuries.

4. Bone hyperplasia caused by illness: You should go to the hospital for a check-up at this time.

5. It may be sciatica. It is best to go to the hospital and see a doctor. If it is sciatica, you can try self-treatment. Just insist on sleeping on a hard bed. If there is no effect, go to the hospital for further treatment.

2. What diseases can cause hip pain?

1. Hip osteoarthritis

Many times, the hip pain people feel is not bone pain, but pain in the hip joint. The most common cause of hip pain in middle-aged and elderly patients is osteoarthritis. Hip osteoarthritis often presents as intermittent dull pain or pain in the hip joint, which turns into persistent pain in the later stages of the disease. Some patients may experience transferred pain to the knee joint, which is caused by the partial overlap of pain afferent nerves in the hip and knee joints. Some patients also experience pain that radiates to the groin, inner thigh, and buttocks.

2. Femoral head necrosis

Another important disease that causes hip pain is femoral head necrosis. Unlike hip osteoarthritis, this disease is caused by necrosis of bone cells under the femoral head due to lack of nutrition, and the cartilage on the surface of the joint is intact. Alcoholism and previous use of large doses of glucocorticoids are high-risk factors for femoral head necrosis. Femoral head necrosis is not common in middle-aged and elderly patients, but it has a higher incidence rate among young and middle-aged people aged 30 to 50. Its clinical symptoms are far more severe than osteoarthritis. The pain is more severe and obvious, movement disorders appear earlier, and severe cases require crutches to walk. In the later stage, when the femoral head collapses completely, there will be a greater chance of complications such as joint deformity, dislocation or loss of function.

3. Other important diseases that cause hip pain

In addition to hip osteoarthritis and femoral head necrosis, which are relatively common and important, there are many other diseases that cause hip pain, such as ankylosing spondylitis involving the hip joint, congenital hip dysplasia, and tumors around the hip joint. However, these diseases are relatively rare and their clinical manifestations are complex, requiring the help of professional physicians to make a clear diagnosis.
