Causes of recurrent otitis media

Causes of recurrent otitis media
Otitis media is a problem that troubles many babies and parents. The reason why children are more likely to suffer from otitis media is that babies are not yet fully developed and their ear canals are relatively short. On the other hand, babies' immunity is relatively low and they cannot resist some bacteria and viruses. Therefore, the probability of babies suffering from otitis media is very high. However, many babies will experience recurring otitis media after being cured. What is the reason for this?

1. Infection factors

If otitis media is caused by pathogenic bacteria such as Streptococcus pneumoniae, it is easy for otitis media to recur. This is because the pathogen will release endotoxins in the middle ear, which will then cause edema of the middle ear mucosa and increase the secretion of inflammation. If the patient is treated with antibiotics alone, it is usually difficult to completely eliminate the pathogen. Although the disease seems to have been cured, it is not actually completely cured. This is one of the main reasons for the recurrence of otitis media.

2. Immune abnormalities

According to clinical pathological examination, different types of immune complexes are found in the middle ear effusion of patients with otitis media, which leads to the conclusion that otitis media is most likely an immune abnormality symptom of an allergic reaction.

3. Eustachian tube obstruction

Since the human middle ear can communicate with the outside world through the Eustachian tube, if the patient suffers from an upper respiratory tract infection, it is very likely to induce Eustachian tube inflammation. Once the inflammation spreads to the middle ear through the Eustachian tube, it can easily cause otitis media. In addition, since patients are still unclear about the source of infection of otitis media, it is impossible to prescribe the right medicine, so the symptoms of otitis media will continue to exist and it will be difficult to cure completely.

4. Treatment methods

In fact, otitis media is not uncommon in life, and there are many ways to cure otitis media. However, otitis media still recurs, which is mainly because the disease has not been thoroughly and effectively treated. Therefore, patients with otitis media should choose a regular professional hospital for a comprehensive examination and take scientific and reasonable treatment measures to completely cure the disease and stay away from the trouble of recurrent otitis media. In addition, there are many treatments for otitis media, such as medication, surgery, etc., so patients must go to a regular hospital for an examination, identify the cause, and then choose the most suitable treatment method to completely cure the disease.
