The DTP vaccine can prevent three diseases: whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus. After vaccination, infants and young children have a good immune effect. However, some children will have some adverse reactions in their bodies after the injection. The formation of lumps after the DPT injection is a typical one. It is obviously for disease prevention, but adverse reactions occur, which puzzles many parents. So, what is the reason for the hard lumps to appear after taking the injection? Let’s take a look below. Lump after taking DPT vaccine The diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine contains adsorbent ingredients, and this adsorbent is the culprit that causes nodules at the vaccination site in children. Parents should pay attention to the condition of the nodules. If there is no redness, swelling, heat or pain, parents do not need to worry. Generally speaking, the nodules will be absorbed by themselves in a week at the fastest and several months at the slowest. If the nodule is red and swollen, and the child cries when touched, it means there is pain. The child can go to the health center and apply anti-inflammatory and analgesic ointment, which is very effective. If the situation is not severe, parents can apply a warm towel or potato slices to the injection site at home, which will help the absorption of the nodule. Precautions for vaccination against pertussis 1. People with underdeveloped brain and frequent high fever seizures or convulsions (such as epilepsy) cannot be vaccinated with diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine, but can be vaccinated with diphtheria and tetanus toxoids. 2. It is contraindicated for patients with fever, acute illness, allergic constitution or history of neurological diseases (encephalitis, epilepsy, poliomyelitis, etc.). 3. Infants are susceptible to epidemic encephalitis B and poliomyelitis after being vaccinated with diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccines, so they should not be vaccinated during epidemics of these two diseases. 4. People with heart, liver, kidney diseases, active tuberculosis, diabetes, and severe indigestion should not use it. 5. Those who have convulsions after the injection cannot be vaccinated with diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus toxoids next time, but can be vaccinated with diphtheria and tetanus toxoids. 6. After the injection, there may be slight redness, swelling, pain and lumps in the local area; a few children may have systemic reactions such as low fever and fatigue; some children may have diarrhea, eczema, urticaria and other allergic reactions. These cannot be reasons for not to stop vaccinating with "DPT". The reactions caused by vaccination will generally disappear within 2-3 days as long as you rest properly and take general symptomatic treatment (such as taking antipyretic tablets, antidiarrheal drugs, anti-allergic drugs, etc.). |
