Why does my belly button smell bad?

Why does my belly button smell bad?

We all know that the human belly button has a special smell. Because the belly button is the end of the large intestine, the belly button also smells stinky. Many children are very curious about belly buttons when they are young and like to pick their belly buttons. In fact, this practice is wrong, because frequently picking the belly button can easily cause stomach pain. So why does the belly button smell bad?

It is normal to have a smell in the belly button.

The belly button has a smell because it is connected to the abdominal cavity. Before delivery, the umbilical cord of the child is connected to the mother's body. The child absorbs nutrients through the belly button in the mother's body. After delivery, the child's belly button is naturally closed. Normally, there will be no bad smell or other odors in the belly button unless there are special circumstances. If the area is often picked with hands, or moved around with other objects, or other reasons cause local unsanitary conditions, the belly button may have a bad smell or other odors, but this is not a serious illness. As long as you develop good hygiene habits, you can avoid all kinds of odors. Now there is a bad smell in the local area, you don't have to worry, you can use gentian violet (commonly known as gentian violet), apply an appropriate amount to the navel and its surroundings, and the local area will recover in a short time. If there is secretion in the local area or the situation is serious, you can find some hydrogen peroxide to clean it up locally. If conditions permit, use some disinfectants such as (75% alcohol or Sanisol, etc.) to disinfect the local area first, and then apply some gentian violet. You can take some anti-inflammatory drugs (such as co-trimoxazole or amoxicillin, etc.), and the local area will get better faster, then you can be completely relieved.

1. There is inflammation in the intestines.

2. The navel is a concave area on the human body surface. There are many large sweat glands around it, and bacteria can easily reside here. When you sweat, the sweat accumulates here and is decomposed by bacteria, and an unpleasant odor is naturally produced.

It may be omphalitis. The early symptoms of omphalitis are redness at the root of the umbilical cord or the wound after the umbilical cord falls off, white purulent secretions, and further redness and swelling of the skin around the umbilicus. Bacteria can even enter the blood circulation through the umbilical blood vessels, a potential channel that has not yet been closed anatomically, causing serious consequences such as sepsis.

Suggestions: Therefore, omphalitis must be treated promptly. It can be disinfected with 75% alcohol and then coated with 1% gentian violet or 2.5% iodine, and then bandaged with sterile gauze. If there are symptoms such as moisture or discharge in the umbilical fossa, local treatment should be performed immediately. If the umbilical inflammation is obvious and there is purulent secretion, go to the hospital for treatment immediately.

Everyone has more or less secretions in the belly button. A small amount of secretions can actually play a protective role, but too much secretion or brown substance flowing out and stinking may indicate an umbilical infection and you should go to the hospital for diagnosis. Also, the sunken navel is a dark corner that is prone to water and dirt accumulation and is not easy to dry out. In addition, the temperature here is suitable, making it a good culture medium for bacteria.

Suggestions: There is inflammation on the skin at the navel. It is best not to scratch this kind of skin inflammation. It will get better if you disinfect it with iodine and then apply tetracycline ointment.
