Laundry Detergent Allergy Symptoms

Laundry Detergent Allergy Symptoms

Laundry detergent is a relatively common cleaning product. In recent years, laundry detergent has gradually replaced washing powder and become a new favorite in the laundry market. When using laundry detergent, it is easy to cause allergies for some people with allergic constitutions. This is because some ingredients in the laundry detergent will irritate human skin, causing itching, redness and swelling of the skin, and causing papules and other symptoms.

Can laundry detergent cause skin allergies?

As long as you choose laundry detergent of good quality and master the scientific method of use, generally speaking, it will not cause skin allergies, so you don't need to worry too much.

First of all, we should carefully observe the ingredients when purchasing, and avoid purchasing products containing bleach and fluorescent agents: In order to increase the cleaning effect, current laundry detergents will add bleach and fluorescent agents, which will make the washed clothes look white and bright, but this thing is really not a good thing. It will wash pure cotton fabrics that are easy to fade, and the color of your clothes will lighten by two colors after a few times. It will also make the clothes turn yellow and look old. More importantly, the residues of bleach and fluorescent agents are very likely to cause skin allergies.

Choose neutral laundry detergent which is more skin-friendly: Nowadays, people pay more and more attention to their skin, so many supporting tools have appeared in daily cleaning, such as gloves, hand sanitizers, etc. In fact, many laundry detergents nowadays will tell you: I am neutral and will not hurt your hands. Neutral means the pH is neutral. Human skin is usually slightly acidic (PH 5.5 to 6.5, the lower the number, the stronger the acidity), and alkaline detergents can cause damage to clothes and human skin. Neutral laundry detergent is more gentle.

Choose a product that produces moderate foam: the more foam, the better. Poor foaming does not mean poor detergency. These are two different concepts. Today, when fully automatic washing machines have entered thousands of households, easy rinsing means saving water and energy, and has become an important factor for smart housewives in purchasing laundry detergent and washing powder.

How to choose baby laundry detergent

Choose products specifically for babies: Many mothers use ordinary laundry detergent for adults to wash baby clothes, but many ingredients in ordinary laundry detergent will remain in the clothes and cause harm to the baby. Therefore, when choosing baby laundry detergent, you must pay attention to whether it has added chemical ingredients. You should choose laundry detergent with plant formula, neutral pH value, environmental protection and mildness. It not only reduces irritation to baby's skin, but also has the cleaning effect for common stains on baby clothes.

Pay attention to the color of the product: choose transparent or milky white laundry detergent, and don't be fooled by the floral pink or azure blue colors that attract your attention, because that's because pigments have been added.

Choose neutral products: In addition to the ingredient list, baby laundry detergent emphasizes more irritation than adult laundry detergent. This is mainly reflected in the acidity and alkalinity of the laundry detergent. Since human skin is generally weakly acidic, the closer the pH value of the laundry detergent is to that of the human body, the less it will hurt the skin. Currently, baby laundry detergents on the market are generally claimed to be neutral or weakly acidic (i.e., a pH value of 6-7), but most adult laundry detergents do not emphasize this point. But then again, it is the parents who use laundry detergent to wash clothes, not the babies themselves, and it is the parents' hands that are being protected. Of course, it is good to be able to protect them.

Observe the viscosity of the product: Traditionally, people believe that the thicker the laundry detergent, the better. In fact, this is not the case. Most of the laundry detergent is pure water, and the effective ingredients are only a small part, so it looks very thin. Those liquids that look thick are because thickeners have been added, which actually do not help with washing.
