Can the frenulum be cut?

Can the frenulum be cut?

Diseases often occur in the male reproductive area. For example, some boys will find that their foreskin is too long when they are very young. If the foreskin is too long, bacteria will hide inside, making it prone to infection and inflammation. It is easy to recover if a child undergoes circumcision at a young age. Therefore, it is recommended that parents observe their children's situation. Excessive foreskin will also have certain effects on adult males, but can the frenulum be cut off?

1. Who is not suitable for circumcision?

Contraindications: Patients who are suffering from balanitis are temporarily not suitable for surgery and must wait until the inflammation subsides before undergoing surgery.

2. What are the side effects of circumcision?

① Infection: Failure to effectively control inflammation of the foreskin and glans penis before surgery, mistaken circumcision for patients with incarcerated phimosis, failure to pay attention to aseptic operation or rough surgical operation, and urine contamination of the wound after surgery can all lead to incision infection. If an infection occurs, seek medical treatment immediately.

② Bleeding and hematoma: mostly caused by incomplete hemostasis during surgery or loose ligature. It often occurs in the superficial dorsal vein of the penis and the frenulum of the foreskin. Bleeding from the superficial dorsal vein of the penis is prone to forming a hematoma. Bleeding from the frenulum of the foreskin often results in blood flowing out of the wound and may also form a hematoma under the skin. For small hematomas, you can rest in bed, apply local cold compresses for 2-3 days as prescribed by your doctor, and use antibiotics to prevent infection; for large hematomas, you should seek medical treatment immediately.

③ Improper circumcision: Excessive circumcision will affect penile erection after surgery. In severe cases, skin grafting can be performed to correct it. If the circumcision is too small, the foreskin will still cover the glans penis after the operation. If the rotation is still not satisfactory or the infection recurs, another circumcision is required.

④ Edema of the frenulum: caused by too much skin left at the frenulum, too tight bandage, standing or walking for too long on the day after surgery, etc. If edema of the frenulum occurs, you need to seek medical treatment in time.

3. What are the precautions for circumcision?

One: Check

Go to the urology department of a regular hospital to see if surgery is needed. Generally speaking, patients with phimosis (foreskin cannot be turned up), tight foreskin, recurrent balanitis, and those who have difficulty in having sex need surgery. For children, it is better to have surgery around 10 years old.

2. Surgical method

The most common circumcision procedure is still circumcision, including laser or traditional surgical methods.

3. Appointment and Testing

Circumcision surgery in general hospitals requires an appointment 2 to 4 weeks in advance, and the decision should be made based on your own schedule. Most hospitals require infectious disease screening and blood and urine routine tests before surgery.

4. Skin preparation

(The hospital will be responsible for skin preparation after you come to the hospital.) Shave the pubic hair on the penis and scrotum and take a shower the day before the operation.

Five: Psychological preparation

Circumcision is generally an outpatient procedure, with few complications, and the patient can return to work in about a week.

6. Transportation

It is best to take a car or taxi and avoid riding a bicycle or driving.

VII. Follow-up visit

After the operation, take medicine on time and go for follow-up visits in time to observe the healing of the wound.
