What to do after formaldehyde poisoning

What to do after formaldehyde poisoning

At present, there is a substance called formaldehyde in too many newly renovated houses, and everyone is familiar with it. However, formaldehyde can cause symptoms of poisoning in people, often causing dizziness, nausea, confusion, nervousness, vertigo and fatigue. Some people may also develop asthma due to formaldehyde. Therefore, formaldehyde poisoning is very serious, and skin redness, swelling, and inflammatory diseases will occur. Timely treatment is needed, so what should you do after formaldehyde poisoning?

The main hazard of formaldehyde is its irritation to the skin and mucous membranes. When formaldehyde reaches a certain concentration indoors, people will feel uncomfortable. Formaldehyde concentration greater than 0.08m³ can cause red eyes, itchy eyes, throat discomfort or pain, hoarseness, sneezing, chest tightness, asthma, dermatitis, etc. Newly renovated rooms have high formaldehyde content, which is the main cause of many diseases.

If you have formaldehyde poisoning symptoms, go to the hospital for treatment immediately. Ventilate your home more often to reduce the content of free formaldehyde in the air to avoid further harm, and at the same time find a formaldehyde removal company to conduct testing and treatment.

1. Get away from an environment with high formaldehyde concentration as soon as possible and avoid strenuous activities.

2. Rinse contaminated clothes, clothes that come into contact with the skin, and other related items thoroughly with plenty of water, and then wash them with soapy water or 2% sodium bicarbonate solution.

3. If someone has been exposed to very high formaldehyde concentration, he should be given 0.1% dilute ammonia water for inhalation.

4. After inhaling a large amount of formaldehyde gas in a short period of time, those who have upper respiratory tract irritation should be observed for at least 48 hours and avoid activities that may aggravate the condition.

How to prevent formaldehyde damage in advance?

1. Do not move into a newly renovated house immediately, as toxic gases will be released at a high rate within 6 months after renovation.

2. Formaldehyde removal is a slow process. Generally, the release cycle of formaldehyde can last for several years or even more than ten years. A house that has been lived in for several years should also be checked to see if formaldehyde exceeds the standard.

3. In order to allow formaldehyde to volatilize better, you should open windows more often for ventilation, improve indoor ventilation equipment, and install an indoor fresh air ventilation system.

4. Try to reduce the use of decorations in your home. If there is still a pungent smell a few months after the decoration, it is recommended to purchase professional formaldehyde removal products.
