Toxic side effects

The toxic side effects of Quisqualis chinensis are not serious. When the crude product (26.6 g/kg) was taken orally to dogs, there were no other symptoms of food poisoning except vomiting and hiccups. Its shellac produced the same effect at 0.83 g/kg. The water extract was injected subcutaneously into mice. After a few minutes, they showed depression, with slow and irregular breathing. After 1-2 hours, the whole body had a slight convulsion, and then breathing stopped. The minimum lethal dose is 20 grams/kg. 50-100mg/10g of Quisqualis oil is taken orally to mice or rabbits. No poisoning was observed.
