What is the diagnosis of hysteria in traditional Chinese medicine? Hysteria is also called hysteria, which is called depression in traditional Chinese medicine. It is also called lily disease and zang-mania in the Golden Chamber. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the disease is mostly caused by liver depression and qi stagnation, and phlegm and qi obstruction. The treatment is mainly to soothe the liver, regulate qi, relieve depression, relieve cough, resolve phlegm and open the orifices. Those who have been ill for a long time will turn from real to virtual, and need to cooperate with the method of invigorating qi, nourishing yin and pulling the positive force, and self-suggestion treatment is effective. Hysteria is a type of mental illness. Today's medical classification is called seizure disorder. It usually causes transient mental illness and body function disorders under great adverse stimulation. It can manifest as abnormal behavior, cognitive impairment, and even paralysis.

The key methods of TCM treatment are :

(1) Lily and Rehmannia Decoction: a Yin-nourishing and heat-clearing agent, used to treat various symptoms caused by Yin deficiency and excessive fire in the heart and lungs. It can be used alone to treat hysteria, and combined with Ziziphus Jujuba Seed Decoction to enhance the effects of protecting the liver, clearing heat and detoxifying, and nourishing Yin and blood.

(2) Banxia Houpu Decoction: It is a drug that can relieve cough, resolve phlegm, soothe the liver, regulate qi and reduce adverse reactions. It is used to treat plum pit qi. If it is accompanied by depression, chest tightness, shortness of breath and other symptoms of liver qi stagnation, it can be used together with liver-soothing and qi-regulating drugs such as Bupleurum, Curcuma, and Atractylodes macrocephala, or combined with Xiaoyao Powder, which often helps to improve the efficacy.

(3) Ganmai Renzao Decoction: A medicine that nourishes the lungs and stomach, nourishes yin and blood. It is used to treat emotional discomfort or excessive worry, liver depression turning into fire, damage to yin and fluid, and deficiency of both the heart and spleen, which causes symptoms such as emotional unrest, unprovoked sadness and sobbing, unstable mentality, frequent yawning, fatigue, etc. It is often used together with Shengmai Powder, Baihe Dihuang Decoction, Suanzaoren Decoction, Siqi Decoction, Xiaoyao Powder, Liuwei Dihuang Pills, etc.

The key points of acupuncture therapy are:

(1) Acute hysteria: select acupoints from the middle group of people or acupoints of a certain type, and combine them with Neiguan acupoint. Generally, strong stimulation is used. Whether to retain the needle and the time depends on the condition of the patient, and it is also coordinated with language hints.

(2) Hysterical paralysis: The main acupoint is Yongquan, with Quchi and Waiguan points for the upper limbs and Zusanli and Xuanzhong points for the lower limbs. Treatment is by acupuncture or electroacupuncture, and psychological therapy is added at the same time. Muscle training is immediately used to achieve certain results.
