Tips for quick bleeding control

Tips for quick bleeding control

In daily life, if bleeding occurs due to an accident, if it is not particularly serious, you can stop the bleeding at home. First, you need to disinfect it, and then you can use acupressure to stop the bleeding. This is a common method of stopping bleeding. Of course, if the bleeding is more serious, you can stop the bleeding by tying the bleeding area. At this time, you should seek medical attention in time.

Tips for quick bleeding control

1. General hemostasis method: This method is for bleeding from small wounds. Method: Rinse and disinfect the affected area with saline, then cover it with multiple layers of sterile gauze and tie it tightly with a bandage. Note: If the affected area has a lot of hair, it should be cut or shaved during treatment.

2. Finger pressure hemostasis method is only applicable to emergency treatment of arterial bleeding in the head, face, neck and limbs. Be careful not to use pressure for too long. Hemostasis can be performed on the following 6 parts respectively. 1. Bleeding on the top of the head: In front of the ear on the injured side, press the superficial temporal artery with your thumb 1.5 cm above and in front of the mandibular tragus. 2. Bleeding from the head and neck: Place four fingers together and align them with the inner side of the middle section of the sternocleidomastoid muscle in the neck, and press the common carotid artery toward the cervical spine. Be careful not to compress the common carotid arteries on both sides at the same time to avoid cerebral ischemia and necrosis. The pressure time should not be too long to avoid danger.

3. Bleeding in the upper arm:

Lift the affected limb with one hand, and use the four fingers of the other hand to press the brachial artery on the inner side of the middle of the upper arm.

4. Palm bleeding:

Raise the affected limb and use the thumbs of both hands to compress the ulnar and radial arteries at the wrist respectively.

5. Bleeding from the thigh: Slightly below the groin, use the thumbs of both hands to press the femoral artery backwards. 6. Foot bleeding: Use the thumbs of both hands to compress the dorsalis pedis artery and the posterior carotid artery between the medial malleolus and Achilles tendon.

5. Flexion and padding hemostasis method

When bleeding occurs in the forearm or calf, you can place gauze pads, cotton balls, towels, clothes and other items in the elbow or knee pits, flex the joints, and use a triangular bandage to fix them in an 8-shape. However, it cannot be used by those with fractures or joint dislocations.

6. Use a rubber tourniquet to stop bleeding. The commonly used tourniquet is a rubber tube about three feet long. Method: With your palm facing up, hold one end of the tourniquet with your thumb and index finger, tighten it with one hand, wrap it around the limb twice, clamp the end of the tourniquet with your middle and index fingers, pull it down along the limb, and press down the "remaining end" to prevent it from slipping. Note: When using a tourniquet, add padding and do not apply it directly to the skin. Loosen the tourniquet for 2-3 minutes every 45 minutes, and slowly replace it with acupressure when loosening it.

7. Tightening hemostasis method: fold the triangular bandage into a belt shape, tie a slipknot, take a small stick and pass it through the outside of the belt to tighten it, then insert the tightened small stick into the small circle of the slipknot to fix it. Packing hemostasis method: Stuff and press the sterilized gauze, cotton pad, and first aid kit into the wound, and wrap it with a bandage or triangular bandage, with the tightness appropriate to achieve hemostasis.
