Why can't chickenpox be exposed to the wind?

Many people may not understand why chickenpox cannot be exposed to wind. First, let us understand chickenpox. This disease is relatively common and is mostly caused by viral infection. It mainly occurs on the chest and back, is higher than the skin, and is bean-shaped. The typical symptoms are that it contains light yellow liquid. If chickenpox is exposed to wind, it will cause dry skin and increase the degree of itching. Let us now take a closer look at why chickenpox cannot be exposed to wind.

Pox (varicella, chickenpox) is an acute infectious disease caused by the primary infection of varicella-zoster virus. It mainly occurs in infants and preschool children, and the symptoms in adults are more severe than in children. It is characterized by fever and the appearance of widespread red maculopapular rashes, vesicles, and scabs on the skin and mucous membranes. The rash is distributed centripetally, mainly occurring on the chest, abdomen, and back, and rarely on the limbs. It is common in winter and spring and is highly contagious. Chickenpox patients are the only source of infection. It is contagious from 1 to 2 days before the onset of the disease until the rash dries and crusts over. It can be transmitted through contact or inhalation of droplets. The incidence rate in susceptible children can reach over 95%. The disease is a self-limiting disease and generally does not leave scars. If it is combined with bacterial infection, scars will be left. Lifelong immunity is obtained after the disease. Sometimes the virus remains in a dormant state in the ganglia, and the infection recurs after many years, resulting in shingles.

1. Electron Microscopy

By taking fresh herpes fluid for electron microscopic examination, herpes virus particles can be seen, which can be quickly distinguished from smallpox virus.

2. Virus Isolation

Within 3 days of onset, herpes fluid was collected and inoculated into human embryo amniotic tissue, and the virus isolation positive rate was high.

3. Serological examination

The commonly used test is the complement fixation test. Complement fixation antibodies will appear in the serum of varicella patients 1 to 4 days after diagnosis, reach a peak in 2 to 6 weeks, and gradually decrease after 6 to 12 months. The antibody titer of double serum increases by more than 4 times. Indirect fluorescent antibody test

4. PCR method

The PCR method for detecting viral DNA in nasopharyngeal secretions is a sensitive and rapid means of early diagnosis.

5. Blood picture

The total white blood cell count is normal or slightly decreased, and the lymphocyte count is increased.

6. Herpes scraping or biopsy

Fresh herpes basement material was scraped and examined for multinucleated giant cells using Wright or Giemsa stain, and intranuclear inclusion bodies were examined using acid stain.

1. Pay attention to disinfection and cleaning

Clothes, bedding, towels, dressings, toys, tableware, etc. that have come into contact with chickenpox herpes fluid should be washed, dried in the sun, ironed, boiled or burned for disinfection according to the circumstances, and should not be shared with healthy people. At the same time, you should change your clothes and bedding frequently to keep your skin clean.

2. Open windows regularly

Air circulation can also kill viruses in the air, but when ventilating the room, be careful to prevent the patient from catching cold. Let as much sunlight into the room as possible and open the glass windows.

3. Reduce fever

If you have a fever, it is best to use physical methods to reduce fever, such as using an ice pillow, towel, and drinking plenty of water. Let the sick child rest, eat nutritious and easily digestible food, and drink plenty of boiled water and fruit juice.

4. Pay attention to changes in the condition

Pay attention to changes in the condition. If you find persistent high fever, cough and asthma, or vomiting, headache, irritability or drowsiness after the rash appears, or convulsions, you should go to the hospital for medical treatment immediately.

5. Avoid scratching herpes with your hands

Be especially careful not to scratch the acne on your face, so as to avoid purulent infection caused by scratching the herpes. If the lesions are deep, they may leave scars. To prevent this from happening, keep your child's nails short and keep their hands clean.

What should I pay attention to when I get chickenpox?

1. Some mothers mistakenly believe that the more chickenpox the better, so they blindly give their children medicines to relieve the rash. The result of this is that chickenpox spreads all over the body, making the condition worse. Children will feel unbearable itching, become irritable, and even scratch with their hands. Mild cases will be left with scars, and severe cases may cause bacteria to enter the blood circulation from the local infection lesions, grow and multiply in the blood, and cause sepsis.

2. Children who are using corticosteroids to treat other diseases, children with eczema or other severe skin diseases, and children undergoing surgery with large wounds should do everything possible to avoid contact with children with chickenpox. Because if these children develop chickenpox, the condition will be very serious.

3. Patients suspected or confirmed to have chickenpox should be isolated. Children who go to school or daycare can generally be isolated at home. If there are other children in the family who have not had chickenpox, they should choose another place to live or not live in the same room with the patient. Isolation should continue until all blisters are dry and crusted.

4. Be especially careful not to scratch the herpes on your face, so as to avoid infection and suppuration. If the lesions are deep, they may leave scars. To prevent this from happening, keep your nails short and your hands clean.

What can you eat when you have chickenpox?

1. Foods rich in crude fiber. Leafy vegetables such as cabbage, celery, spinach, bean sprouts, etc. contain more crude fiber, which can help children clear heat from the body.

2. Give children plenty of water to drink. During the chickenpox period, sick children may have dry stools due to fever and need to drink enough water. If children do not like plain water, they can drink more watermelon juice, fresh pear juice, fresh orange juice, tomato juice, etc.

3. Let children eat more foods that have the effect of clearing heat and promoting diuresis. Vegetables such as spinach, amaranth, shepherd's purse, bamboo shoots, lettuce, and wild rice stem are all good choices. As for beans such as winter soybeans, black beans, red beans, mung beans, and broad beans, they have the effect of clearing heat and promoting diuresis.
