What to eat during menopause

For women, there are two more important periods in life, one is adolescence and the other is menopause. Both periods require attention to conditioning. At this time, you should pay attention to diet conditioning, eat more foods that can improve the body's immunity, and eat more foods that can replenish qi and blood.

What to eat during menopause

1. Yam, wheat and glutinous rice porridge

Preparation method: Put 30 grams of dried yam slices, 50 grams each of washed wheat and glutinous rice into a casserole, add water and cook porridge. When the porridge is cooked, add appropriate amount of white sugar and stir well. It is best to take it warm and can be eaten as breakfast or dinner.

Efficacy: It has the effects of nourishing the kidney and consolidating essence, calming the mind and regulating qi, strengthening the spleen and nourishing the stomach. Suitable for menopausal syndrome of kidney yang deficiency type. The main symptoms are dull complexion, lack of energy, cold body and limbs, and pain in the waist and knees.

2. Red Date Wheat Porridge

Preparation method: Wash 15 red dates and put them into a casserole with 100 grams of washed wheat to cook porridge. After it is cooked, add brown sugar and mix well. Take it while it is hot, 1 dose a day, and it is best to eat it regularly.

Efficacy: It has the effects of replenishing qi, nourishing blood and calming the mind. It is suitable for menopausal symptoms caused by deficiency of both Qi and blood, as well as fatigue, depression and insomnia.

3. Liver-soothing porridge

Preparation method: Boil 30 grams of Cyperus rotundus in clear water, discard the residue, add 50 grams of washed glutinous rice and 30 grams of brown sugar, and cook into porridge.

Efficacy: Relieves depression and calms the mind, soothes the liver and regulates qi. It is suitable for menopausal syndrome caused by liver qi stagnation, with the main symptoms being irritability, palpitations, headache, insomnia, loss of appetite, and varying amounts of menstrual flow.

4. Longan and lotus seed soup

Preparation method: Put 50 grams of lotus seeds, 50 grams of longan meat, and 20 red dates into the pot, add appropriate amount of water, boil over high heat, then simmer over low heat. Take 1 dose per day, preferably regularly.

Efficacy: It has the effects of replenishing qi and blood, nourishing the heart and calming the mind. Suitable for menopausal syndrome caused by deficiency of both Qi and blood. The main symptoms are pale tongue with thin white coating, scanty menstruation, palpitations and shortness of breath, dizziness, weakness in the limbs, and pale complexion.

5. Steamed soft-shelled turtle with wolfberry

Preparation method: Take a turtle, remove the internal organs and clean it. Put 15 grams of wolfberry into the turtle's belly. Add onion, ginger, salt and other seasonings, and steam it in a pot until cooked. Can be eaten frequently.

Efficacy: It has the effects of nourishing yin and blood, strengthening the kidney and replenishing deficiency. It is suitable for menopausal syndrome caused by kidney yin deficiency, frequent urination at night, blood loss due to consumptive disease, or male impotence.

Menopausal diet principles

1. Do not overeat or be picky eaters.

2. Adopt a diet mainly composed of germ rice and vegetables. Germ rice is rich in B vitamins, which are very effective in normalizing the autonomic nervous system function. Vitamin E can promote the secretion of sex hormones and improve blood circulation. Others such as vitamin C, pantothenic acid, and oleic acid can promote the normalization of nerve and hormone regulatory functions.

3. Actively consume root vegetables and seasonal vegetables. Eating greenhouse-grown vegetables frequently can make your body cold and easily cause autonomic nervous system disorders.

4. Eat seaweed regularly. Seaweed can make the blood, nerve and hormone regulation systems function properly. Rich in minerals, it can prevent the decline of the brain and sensory organs.
