What to do if you have nausea and vomiting during pregnancy

There will be early pregnancy reactions in the early stages of pregnancy. Because everyone's physique is different, the feeling of early pregnancy reactions will be different. Generally, early pregnancy reactions in the early stages of pregnancy are mainly accompanied by nausea, vomiting, or inability to eat normally and peacefully, and may even affect the fetus in the womb, so pay attention to the reasonable relief of morning sickness.

Causes of morning sickness in pregnant women

1. Morning sickness is a protective behavior

Morning sickness is a natural physiological reaction to protect the fetus in the abdomen. This instinct can detect various pathogens or harmful substances that may harm the baby early on, ensuring that these things do not enter the human body to avoid potential dangers.

2. Hormone stimulation

Human chorionic gonadotropin is secreted from the villi of the fertilized egg in early pregnancy and these hormones will be absorbed by the mother. The secretion of progesterone is more obvious in the early stages of pregnancy, and the mother begins to secrete it when she is five or six weeks pregnant. The increase in estrogen during this period may also cause morning sickness.

3. A sharper sense of smell

During pregnancy, expectant mothers will be sensitive to various smells. Even if the smell comes from a long distance or is not very obvious, the expectant mother will smell it immediately and then have nausea or vomiting reactions.

When is morning sickness most likely to occur?

1. Common period: around 5 weeks of pregnancy

Morning sickness doesn't always occur during pregnancy. Generally speaking, it will be more severe during the fifth week of pregnancy, but it depends on the individual. Some pregnant women may feel nauseous and vomit in less than 1 month. Once morning reaction occurs, it is usually accompanied by characteristics such as appetite and weight loss. This is a normal phenomenon and generally does not affect fetal development.

2. Duration: generally in the early stages of pregnancy

Most pregnant mothers will experience morning sickness in the first three months of pregnancy. The morning sickness may be more severe during this period, but generally around 14 weeks, most pregnant mothers will not feel uncomfortable. However, some pregnant women may still experience this symptom in the next month, but the morning sickness will gradually subside. Even though a few mothers will experience morning sickness throughout their entire pregnancy, the duration of morning sickness often varies depending on the physical constitution of each person.
