How to increase your heart rate

Heart rate refers to the rate of heartbeat. In daily life, if the heartbeat is too slow, it may have certain adverse effects on health. If the heartbeat is greater than 50 times and there are no symptoms, don't worry too much at this time. However, if certain symptoms appear, treatment should be carried out according to the cause. For example, some people with weak constitution and people in poor health may experience such a phenomenon. They should exercise moderately and adjust their diet.

How to increase your heart rate

Heart rate is not a big problem. If it is greater than 50 times and there are no symptoms, it is generally okay.

1. For etiological treatment, nutrition should be strengthened for those with weak constitutions; treatment should be intensified for those with wasting diseases such as tuberculosis; for those caused by drugs, the drugs can be discontinued or the dosage can be adjusted. If hypertensive patients feel uncomfortable because their blood pressure drops too quickly after taking antihypertensive drugs, they should adjust the method and dosage of administration under the guidance of a doctor, or switch to mild antihypertensive drugs such as compound antihypertensive tablets, nitroglycerin or traditional Chinese medicine as needed. Antihypertensive drugs can be discontinued if necessary. For patients with orthostatic hypotension, be careful not to stand up too hard from a lying position, or use objects with your hands to prevent falls due to low blood pressure.

2. Increase exercise appropriately and have a regular life to prevent excessive fatigue, because extreme fatigue will lower blood pressure even further. It is necessary to maintain a good mental state, strengthen exercise appropriately, improve physical fitness, improve the regulatory function of nerves and blood vessels, accelerate blood circulation, and reduce the onset of orthostatic hypotension. The elderly should choose sports according to environmental conditions and their own physical conditions, such as Tai Chi, walking, aerobics, etc.

3. Adjust your diet and use diet therapy. Don't eat too much at each meal, because being too full will reduce the blood returning to the heart. Elderly people with low blood pressure can drink some light salt water every morning, or eat slightly salty food to increase the amount of water. More water entering the blood can increase blood volume, thereby increasing blood pressure. Drink tea in moderation, because the caffeine in tea can excite the respiratory center and cardiovascular system. Drink alcohol in moderation (wine is best, or drink a moderate amount of beer, not strong liquor), which can excite the sympathetic nerves, speed up blood flow, promote heart function, and reduce blood viscosity.

What are the dangers of a slow heartbeat?

Long-term slow heart rate can cause the body to suffer from hypoxia and ischemia due to insufficient blood "pumped" by the heart. The compensatory ventricles speed up their movement to supply blood. Excessive ventricular movement can cause insufficient blood return. In severe cases, it can lead to sudden death, or even death in the sleep. Therefore, if the heart rate and pulse are less than 50 times, you should go to the hospital for a detailed examination to find out the cause. If it is pathological, a pacemaker should be installed to speed up the heart rate in severe cases.
