What is the normal body temperature of humans?

The human body needs a normal body temperature to maintain its immune function. If the body temperature is abnormal, the human body will get sick, which is the fever we often encounter in our lives. Fever can be divided into low fever and high fever. For those of us who pay attention to our health, what we should know most is what is the normal body temperature of the human body? There are many ways to measure body temperature, and only by measuring the temperature correctly can you make a correct judgment.

Normal body temperature:

1. The temperature inside the human body is called body temperature. Maintaining a constant body temperature is a necessary condition to ensure normal metabolism and life activities. Body temperature is the product of material metabolism converted into heat energy.

2. The body temperature of a normal person is relatively constant. It is regulated by the temperature regulation center in the brain and hypothalamus and the effects of neurohumoral regulation to maintain a dynamic balance between heat production and heat dissipation. Under normal physiological conditions, when body temperature rises, the body maintains a relatively constant body temperature by reducing heat production and increasing heat dissipation; conversely, when body temperature drops, heat production increases and heat dissipation decreases, keeping the body temperature at a normal level.

3. Normal body temperature is not a specific temperature point, but a temperature range. The body temperature deep inside the body is relatively constant and uniform, which is called deep body temperature; while the temperature on the body surface is affected by many factors and has greater changes and differences, which is called surface temperature. The body temperature referred to clinically is the average deep temperature. The body temperature is generally represented by the mouth, rectum and armpit, among which the rectal temperature is closest to the deep body temperature. Normal values: oral sublingual temperature is 37°C (range 36.3-37.2°C), rectal temperature is 37.5°C (0.3-0.5°C higher than oral temperature), axillary temperature is 36.0°C (range 35.8-36.3°C).

4. The standard for normal body temperature is based on the values of most people, not the absolute values of individuals.

Measuring body temperature :

  1. The method to measure normal human body temperature is to measure the temperature once at around 8 am, 3 pm, and 8 pm, and measure it for several days in a row. The most stable value is the normal body temperature.

    2. When measuring body temperature, you should first shake the mercury column of the thermometer to below 35°C, and then wipe it with a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to disinfect it. Nowadays, most people test the temperature by holding the thermometer under the armpit. For young or unconscious children, the rectal temperature can be measured.

    3. The most commonly used underarm measurement method is as follows: first shake the mercury column of the thermometer to below 35 degrees, then place the head of the thermometer deep in the subject's armpit, clamp the thermometer with the upper arm, and read the reading after 5 to 10 minutes. The reading method is to hold the tail of the thermometer with one hand, that is, the end away from the mercury column, keep your eye and the thermometer at the same level, and read the number corresponding to the right end of the mercury column. When reading the reading, be careful not to touch the tip of the thermometer, as your hand will affect the mercury column and cause inaccurate measurement; do not put your eyes higher or lower than the thermometer.

    4. When measuring, please make sure there are no warming or cooling items in the armpits, and wipe off the sweat in the armpits. Also note that it is more accurate to measure body temperature 30 minutes after measurement.
