Is high anti-o a sign of rheumatism?

In fact, high anti-O levels are not as serious as we think. Many people will get sick, and taking medicine or receiving intravenous drips when seeing a doctor will lead to high anti-O levels. This only proves that the value increases after being infected with the disease, and it has no direct relationship with rheumatism. It is normal for anti-O levels to increase after a cold or fever, and there is no need to worry too much. However, you still need to pay attention to your health and develop good living habits.

In daily life, many patients and healthy people often think they have rheumatism when they experience joint pain or elevated anti-"O" test results during physical examinations. Even doctors and nurses who are not rheumatologists, most of them use penicillin and traditional Chinese medicine for treatment on their own, which results in a series of problems!

So does high anti-"O" level necessarily mean rheumatism? The answer is: This statement is wrong! Anti-O2 hyperactivity is clinically associated with the following symptoms (fever, migratory joint swelling and pain, rash, progressive increase in values, increased erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein) before it is considered to be related to "rheumatic fever" in rheumatism. Moreover, with the abuse of antibiotics, patients with rheumatic fever are very rare in clinical practice. Hyperactivity is definitely not rheumatoid arthritis!

So what is anti-"O"?

Anti-"O" is anti-streptolysin "O", abbreviated as ASO. A metabolite produced by hemolytic streptococci can dissolve red blood cells, so this product is named "O" hemolysin. After the human body is infected with group A hemolytic streptococci, "O" hemolysin exists in the body as an antigen. In order to determine the content of antibodies that can neutralize streptolysin "O", it is called the anti-streptolysin "O" test. The value detected through this experiment is the anti-"O" seen by many patients and friends.

Therefore, the increase in anti-"O" only indicates infection with the bacteria mentioned above, which is the most common respiratory infection and more than 90% of adults will be infected. If you find that your anti-"O" level is elevated just because you have a cold and you don't have any discomfort symptoms, there is no need to use antibiotics for a long time. Don't think that you have rheumatism and use more toxic anti-rheumatic drugs, which will only cause greater harm to your health!

After listening to the above expert opinions, I believe everyone can basically distinguish the difference between elevated anti-O and rheumatic disease. Understanding the cause of the disease will help us identify the disease and treat it as early as possible. If you blindly seek treatment without knowing the cause clearly, the effect will be counterproductive.
