Diseases in life can be divided into chronic diseases and acute diseases. Erythematous papules are a representative of acute diseases. Compared with eczema, which is also a skin disease, erythematous papules are relatively more difficult to treat. People of all ages are likely to suffer from erythematous papules. For this acute disease, we can only reduce the trouble it brings us by understanding its causes and preventing it.

What causes erythematous papules?

1. Infectious diseases include common viral infections, such as common warts, genital warts, molluscum contagiosum, etc.; bacterial diseases, such as cutaneous tuberculosis, atypical mycobacterial infection, facial miliary lupus, etc.; fungal infections, such as tinea corporis, erythematous papular candidiasis, thalamus marneffei, cryptococcosis, etc.; others include spirochete infections, etc.

2. Physical skin diseases include common solar dermatitis, prickly heat, polymorphic light eruption, corns, and frictional lichenoid rash.

3. Various allergic skin diseases, such as contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, papular urticaria, etc.

4. Autoimmune skin diseases and bullous skin diseases, such as lupus erythematosus, bullous pemphigoid, linear IgA bullous dermatosis, etc.

5. Vasculitis and vascular diseases, such as Behcet's syndrome, eosinophilic vasculitis, etc.

What should I check if I have a pimple?

1. Check for pimples

Pay attention to the color, shape and location of the papules. Check whether the idea is broken and whether the rash changes. Whether there is itching, burning or tenderness. Pay attention to related accompanying symptoms and signs, such as fever, headache, and gastrointestinal discomfort.

2. Understand past medical history

Including history of allergies, skin diseases, infections, childhood diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, and tumors. Have you had any mosquito bites or contact with infected patients recently? Get your medication history.

3. Laboratory tests

The total white blood cell count in virally infected papules is low or normal. DNA gene detection of pathogenic microorganisms can be checked. Bacterial infection of the papules is accompanied by fever, and the blood neutrophil count may increase. Pus culture was bacteriologically positive. Fungal papules are directly microscopically examined or cultured to test positive for fungi. Syphilitic papules can test positive for syphilis. Tuberculous papules can be treated with tuberculin test or culture. Biopsy of various papules can be performed for pathological examination to assist in diagnosis when necessary.
