What to do if you have cervical spine pain

What to do if you have cervical spine pain

The cervical spine is a relatively fragile part of the human body, especially because there are many bones in the cervical spine. If you don't pay enough attention, it may cause cervical spine injury. Moreover, more and more people are suffering from cervical spine diseases. Some people report that they sometimes feel sudden stitches in the cervical spine. So, what should you do if you have cervical stitch?

Cervical spondylosis is a group of comprehensive symptoms caused by cervical disc herniation, bone hyperplasia, ligament hypertrophy or changes in the physiological curvature of the cervical spine compressing the cervical nerve roots, spinal cord, vertebral arteries and sympathetic nerves. Cervical spondylosis can be divided into five types:

Nerve root type: Nerve root compression, stiff neck and back, limited movement, sore and heavy shoulders, and numb fingers; if the symptoms only occur in the cervical spine, it is also called cervical spondylosis;

Vertebral artery type: vertebral artery compression, headache, dizziness, tinnitus, nausea and vomiting, blurred vision, prone to cataplexy;

Spinal cord type: spinal cord compression, upper limbs trembling, numbness, difficulty holding objects, severe cases of weak legs, feet like walking on cotton, difficulty walking, and even paralysis;

Sympathetic nervous system: pain in the occipital area, heaviness of the head, dizziness, migraine, palpitations, chest tightness, and cold limbs;

Comprehensive cervical spondylosis: When two or more of the above conditions are met, it is called comprehensive cervical spondylosis.

Modern medicine has reached a high level in the examination and diagnosis of cervical spondylosis with the help of CT and MRI, but the treatment results are often disappointing. The reason is that the cervical intervertebral disc is avascular tissue, and conventional drugs cannot enter the lesion and are difficult to work. Traction and massage therapy only treat the symptoms temporarily as they do not cure the root cause.

(1) Massage: Stand behind the patient with stiff neck and press lightly on the neck with one finger to find the most painful point. Then use your thumb to start from the top of the neck on that side and massage all the way to the shoulder and back. Massage the most painful point vigorously until you feel obvious soreness and swelling, which indicates that the force is enough. Repeat this massage 2 to 3 times. Then tap the massaged area with a hollow fist and repeat 2 to 3 times. Repeating the above massage and tapping can quickly relax the spasmodic neck muscles and relieve pain. ( 2) Hot compress: Hot water bottles, electric hand warmers, hot towels and infrared bulbs can all relieve pain. Care must be taken to avoid burns. (3) Choose safflower oil, Gancunshan rheumatism oil, Yun essence, etc., rub the painful area 2 to 3 times a day, which will have a certain effect. (4) Apply the Shangshi Pain-Relieving Plaster or Pengxiang Pain-Relieving Plaster to the painful area of the neck and change it once a day. The pain-relieving effect is ideal, but the patient will feel that the movement of the neck is restricted to a certain extent after applying the plaster. Pregnant women should avoid using it.
