What causes bone deformation?

What causes bone deformation?

Although bones appear to be a very hard substance in the human body, they are actually very fragile and can easily cause bone problems. With the development of modern medical technology, it has become possible to detect the condition of bones in the human body. When some people go to the hospital for a check-up, they find that their bones have been deformed. So what are the causes of bone deformation? Let me introduce it to you today.

Observe bone necrosis from seven signs of X-ray

(1) The water drop sign refers to the presence of multiple traces of water droplets on a tabletop in the femoral head, which are like traces of water droplets evaporating after evaporation. It is also called the doughnut-like change of the femoral head (early stage).

(2) Low-density sign refers to a large area of water-drop sign changes in the femoral head, in which the trabeculae in the water-drop sign change area disappear (early stage).

(3) The crescent sign refers to a semilunar subchondral fracture at the top of the femoral head, with the subchondral trabeculae of the femoral head separated from the cartilage, and a crescent-shaped translucent area. In the frog-leg pelvic X-ray, the upper and outer side of the femoral head is most clearly shown (stage I).

(4) Fracture sign: The femoral head has a subchondral fracture, with one or more crack-like translucent bands, which is a sign of early collapse of the femoral head (stage I).

2 What to do if a fracture occurs

1. Let the fracture patient lie flat, do not move the patient blindly, and do not pull or massage the injured part. If the injured person needs to be moved, be extra careful when moving him.

2. Check the injured part and cover it with cloth immediately. Use local materials such as branches, planks, sticks, etc. to fix the injured part to prevent the injury from getting worse.

3. When there is no object for fixation, the injured upper limb can be suspended and fixed to the chest with a handkerchief, cloth strip, etc., and the lower limb can be tied and fixed together with the other uninjured lower limb.

4. For open fractures (i.e., the skin or mucous membrane is broken at the fracture site, exposing the bone), pay attention to keeping the injured area clean to prevent infection.

3What is bone deformation?

Bone deformation is actually a skeletal disease, medically called osteitis deformans. It refers to a chronic bone disease with unknown cause, with progressive rheumatic bone and joint pain, spinal and limb deformities, pathological fractures, and symptoms of brain and spinal cord compression as the main manifestations. It is also called Paget's disease and osteitis deformans. Its incidence rate varies greatly by region, race, and age. It is more common in Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and other regions, and is extremely rare in Africa and East Asia (including China). Both men and women can be affected, often occurring in people over 40 years old, and 15% have a family history.

Symptoms of this disease include:

The main symptoms are pain, stiffness, fatigue, bone deformities, headaches, hearing loss, and enlarged head. Bone pain is deep aching pain that is occasionally severe and may be worse at night. Pain may also be caused by nerve compression or be related to osteoarthritis, depending on the extent and location of the lesion, whether it is mono- or poly-bone, the presence or absence of deformity, and comorbidities.

This disease often occurs in the axial skeleton, but can affect any bone. Common bone deformities among patients include enlarged head, hunchback and bent limbs. They may also experience basilar skull depression, compression of the spinal cord and nerve roots, otosclerosis, deafness and optic atrophy. Because bones are weakened, fractures can occur with minimal injury, most commonly in the femur, tibia, humerus, spine, and pelvis.
