White hair in teenagers may be hereditary

Before the age of 40, our hair is all black, because apart from genetic problems, everyone's hair will not turn white when we are young. However, we will find that many children and teenagers begin to have white hair at this stage. This can be considered as premature graying of hair, which is somewhat hereditary.

Is premature graying of hair hereditary?

As we age, our hair gradually turns from black to white. This is a natural physiological process, but it is not difficult to find that many people now have a lot of white hair when they are young, which stays with them for the rest of their lives. The formation of premature graying of hair is mostly related to genetic factors, and it may also be a sign of certain diseases.

People's hair turns white as they age, which is a natural physiological phenomenon. However, many people have premature graying of hair at a young age. In this regard, Lun Wenhui, director of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology at Beijing Ditan Hospital, explained that there is no specific standard as to at what age people will begin to have more gray hair, as it varies from person to person. Some people are very old but their hair is still relatively dark. This phenomenon also exists.

The phenomenon of premature graying of hair is mostly related to genetics. In addition, mental stress, excessive brain use, etc. cause reactive oxygen free radicals to damage hair bulb melanocytes and mitochondrial DNA, which may increase the number of gray hair. But apart from these individual cases, the general phenomenon of premature graying of hair is related to genetics.

Causes of premature graying of hair

1. Mental factors: If a person is depressed, in a bad mood, or highly nervous, or overworked for a long time, his hair may turn from black to white. Maintaining a positive and optimistic attitude towards life and having a good mental state are the most critical factors in preventing and treating premature graying of hair.

2. Nutritional status: Hair is an appendage of the skin and, like other organs and tissues in the body, requires adequate nutrition. Medical clinical observations have shown that if the body lacks protein, vegetable oil, vitamin B1, vitamin B2, and vitamin B6 for a long time, the hair will turn from black to white.

3. Disease, medicine and genetics: Disease, medicine and genetics are also factors that cause hair to turn from black to white. Endocrine disorders such as hypopituitarism and hyperthyroidism, wasting diseases such as tuberculosis, typhoid fever, pernicious anemia, autonomic nervous system dysfunction, etc. are all diseases that have been found to be related to the change of hair from black to white.
