There are many ways to treat rectal polyps, and surgery is a relatively effective method for treating rectal polyps. However, some patients still have flat stools after rectal polyps are removed, which makes patients very worried. In fact, if there are no other special symptoms, it will not have a big impact and you don’t need to worry too much. The key is to take good care of the postoperative precautions and nursing measures. What are the precautions? 1. Develop the habit of regular bowel movements, and preferably thin and mushy stools. 2. Reduce postures that increase abdominal pressure, such as squatting and holding your breath. Avoid sitting, standing, walking for long periods of time and overwork. 3. Avoid spicy, greasy, rough, and residue-rich foods, and avoid smoking, drinking, and coffee. 4. Eat more foods that have the effects of clearing intestinal heat, moisturizing and nourishing mucous membranes, and promoting bowel movements and stopping bleeding, such as raw pear juice, lotus root juice, water chestnut juice, reed root juice, celery juice, carrots, white radish (cooked), bitter gourd, eggplant, cucumber, spinach, day lily, cabbage, egg yolk, apples, figs, bananas, black sesame, walnut meat, white fungus, etc. 5. Be cheerful and don’t get depressed or angry. A bad mood, irritability and depression will cause the intestinal mucosa to contract and blood circulation to be obstructed. 6. Reduce sexual intercourse. Frequent sexual intercourse can cause congestion of the intestinal mucosa. Increased bleeding. Nursing measures after intestinal polyp surgery 1. After polyp removal, the patient should rest in bed to reduce bleeding complications. Pay attention to observe whether there is active bleeding, vomiting blood, blood in the stool, abdominal distension, abdominal pain and peritoneal irritation symptoms, whether there is edema and pain in the pharynx, and whether there are changes in vital signs such as blood pressure and heart rate. 2. After gastric and duodenal polypectomy, patients should fast for 6 hours, eat liquid food for 1 day after 6 hours, and then eat residue-free semi-liquid food for 3 days. After surgery for colon and rectal polyps, patients can eat liquid or semi-liquid diet and avoid rough food within 1 week. 3. To maintain smooth bowel movements after surgery, you can use an appropriate amount of senna leaves to brew tea instead of drinking, and at the same time use your thumb to press Zhongwan, Tianshu, Zusanli, and Fenglong for 1 minute each, 3-4 times a day. 4. A small number of patients experience abdominal distension and pain, and intestinal bloating after surgery, which is mostly caused by excessive gas injection during the operation. Acupuncture can be used to replenish the deficiency and eliminate the excess. Acupuncture at Zusanli and Zhongwan points, leaving the needles in place for 15 minutes, can relieve abdominal distension and pain and quickly reduce intestinal bloating. |
