Can anserine pes heal on its own?

The knee joint is one of the more important joints in our body and is also very complex. All activities we do in daily life will cause some damage to the knee joint. Among them, anserine pes is a disease that is common in the knee joint. The cause of anserine pes is often due to frequent activities. Therefore, when anserine pes occurs, you must reduce activities and pay attention to rest more in your daily life.

Can anserine pes heal on its own?

Anserinosis is caused by excessive activity. Patients should pay attention to rest more, reduce activities, take oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (diclofenac sodium), and perform local blockade. If you want to recover quickly, pay attention to your diet, do not eat foods that stimulate inflammation, eat light meals, and eat more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Do not drink alcohol, take medicine, or eat spicy food.

What is anserinosis

The pes anserinus bursa is a superficial bursa located on the inner side of the knee. It lies above the medial knee ligament and below the combined tendons of the semitendinosus, sartorius, and gracilis muscles of the thigh. Pes anserinus bursitis is common in middle-aged and elderly women, as well as patients with degenerative knee arthritis and thick thighs. The pain and discomfort are often aggravated when climbing stairs and are most obvious when bending and straightening the knee, and will improve after a short rest. This is the biggest difference from the knee pain experienced by patients with knee degeneration when walking down stairs. Clinically, this is often missed because the patient does not mention it clearly and the diagnostician does not ask about the medical history, leading to wrong diagnosis and ineffective treatment.

Pes anserine bursa manifestations

Pain on the inner side of the knee joint, limited knee joint movement, pain that worsens with more activity and eases after rest, and there may be varying degrees of limping, which is particularly obvious when going up and down stairs. The pain is exacerbated by passive valgus and external rotation of the knee, and can be relieved by rest and heat. Patients are often unable to kneel or descend steps. The persistent pain may even interfere with your sleep.

Treatment:

Non-surgical treatment is generally used, such as rest, reduced activity, local application of medication, or local injection of medication in conjunction with anserine pes. Most patients can improve pain and alleviate symptoms through non-surgical treatment. If non-surgical treatment is not effective, surgical treatment can be used.
