What kind of exercise can't I do with cervical spondylosis?

Everyone should know that cervical spondylosis, a joint disease, is mainly caused by people's improper use of the cervical spine. Therefore, before cervical spondylosis occurs, you should pay attention to protecting your cervical spine. After cervical spondylosis occurs, you should do some exercises that are beneficial to cervical spondylosis to regulate your cervical spondylosis. However, some patients with cervical spondylosis do not pay attention to some of their behaviors in life, which leads to the aggravation of cervical spondylosis. So what kind of exercise can't patients with cervical spondylosis do?

1. Exercises that cannot be done by people with cervical spondylosis

Don't rotate your head

Rotational movements of the head and neck can improve local blood circulation, relieve tension and spasms in the neck and shoulder muscles, and enhance the stability and flexibility of the cervical spine. However, when patients with vertebral artery type cervical spondylosis rotate their head and neck, due to the aging of the intervertebral disc and the increased static residual tension in the fascia, the vertebral artery in the transverse foramen of the cervical vertebrae is stimulated by the nearby hyperplastic osteophytes, which makes spasm prone to occur, resulting in insufficient blood supply to the vertebral artery, thereby causing nausea, tinnitus, and dizziness.

2. Can patients with cervical spondylosis exercise?

According to the different parts of compression and stimulation, cervical spondylosis is usually divided into the following types: nerve root type, spinal cord type, vertebral artery type, sympathetic nerve type, cervical type, and combined type. For most types of cervical spondylosis patients, physical exercise is effective, but for patients with spinal cord cervical spondylosis and esophageal cervical spondylosis, physical exercise often fails to achieve its purpose. What is the reason?

For example, esophageal cervical spondylosis is caused by the formation of bone spurs on the front edge of the cervical vertebrae, which compresses the esophagus and causes dysphagia, so physical exercise cannot alleviate its symptoms. Spinal cord cervical spondylosis is caused by various reasons that cause the diameter of the cervical spinal canal to become smaller, causing the spinal cord to be compressed and the buffer space of the spinal cord in the spinal canal to shrink. If the exercise method is improper, it may also aggravate the symptoms.

3. Self-treatment methods for cervical spondylosis

Cervical spondylosis is a chronic disease and the root cause of many diseases, so prevention is the most important. For those who work in front of the computer for a long time, they should turn their neck left and right every 1 to 2 hours. It is best to put a small cushion under the back of the chair to support the "backbone" and relieve spinal pressure.

People who have already suffered from cervical spondylosis can press, knead and move the affected area by themselves, which will achieve certain therapeutic effects. This method is simple and worth promoting and popularizing. The specific operation method is: first, tilt your head forward ten times, lean back ten times, lean to the left ten times, and lean to the right ten times. Then slowly shake your head, turn left ten times and right ten times. The second is to shake the left arm and right arm twenty times each. The third is to stretch out your arms and flex and extend the five fingers of both hands fifty times. You can perform the procedure once a day and it will generally take 1 to 2 months to be effective.
