What causes vaginal itching in women?

Itching symptoms inside the female vagina are quite common in life, and there are many reasons for vaginal itching. The most common one is gynecological problems. In addition, some systemic diseases may also cause this phenomenon. For example, diabetes and jaundice may cause such symptoms. Therefore, when this symptom occurs, it is necessary to understand the specific cause and then receive regular treatment.

Local causes

(A) Special infections: Candidal vaginitis and Trichomonas vaginitis are the most common causes of vulvar itching. Lice and scabies can also cause itching. The itching around the anus and vulva of young girls caused by enterobiasis usually only occurs at night. (ii) Chronic vulvar dystrophy is characterized by severe itching, accompanied by whitening of the vulvar skin. (III) Drug allergy or chemical irritation: Soap, condoms, Sanisol, mercurochrome, etc. may cause contact dermatitis due to direct irritation or allergy, resulting in itching symptoms.

Systemic causes

(1) Diabetes: Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by fungal vulvitis, vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical attention due to itching and redness of the vulva, and are diagnosed with diabetes only after further examination. (ii) When patients with jaundice, vitamin A and B deficiency, anemia, leukemia and other chronic diseases experience vulvar itching, it is often part of general itching. (3) Vulvar congestion during pregnancy and premenstrual period may occasionally cause vulvar itching and discomfort. (IV) Unexplained vulvar pruritus Some patients have very severe vulvar pruritus, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some people believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors.
