Clinically, many elderly people report that their faces are numb and half of their faces become expressionless after waking up from a sleep. In this case, they must go to the hospital as soon as possible. Facial numbness does not rule out the possibility of senile cerebral infarction, and may also be multiple peripheral neuritis or facial nerve paralysis. This article introduces the specific manifestations of these diseases. If you are troubled by this, please take a look. Some people report a numb feeling in their face. In fact, after people do activities such as cupping, their face will experience local numbness, which is a normal phenomenon. But if your face becomes numb suddenly, there is a high probability that you have a disease. The following are two conditions that can be diagnosed based on numbness on the right side of the face. 1. Multiple peripheral neuritis Polyneuritis is a general term for diseases caused by peripheral neuropathy in the human limbs due to other reasons. It usually causes inconvenience to patients in terms of movement, sensation and other aspects. First, various sensory deficits are accompanied by abnormalities, and symptoms of hypersensitivity and painful sensations are evident. Or AIDS, tumor-induced sensory neuropathy, idiopathic brachial plexopathy have obvious characteristics, and hereditary sensory neuropathy and amyloid neuropathy can be seen with dissociated sensory loss. Secondly, the motor neurons at the distal end of the limbs are paralyzed. When the condition is serious, the reflexes of the limbs will be weakened, making it impossible to perform very delicate tasks. The distal end is heavier than the proximal end. In the late stages, muscle spasms and atrophy may occur, leading to deformities. Finally, autonomic nervous system disorders are generally manifested by cold limbs, excessive or no sweating all over the body, dryness or scaling. Men may also have symptoms such as atonic bladder, impotence and diarrhea. 2. Facial nerve paralysis Facial neuritis is also called facial nerve paralysis. Like "crooked mouth" and "hanging line wind", it is a type of disease with impaired motor function of facial expression muscles as its main feature. Because it is common and not affected by age, patients usually have facial paralysis. The patient cannot even do the simplest movements such as raising eyebrows, closing eyes, and puffing lips. Facial neuritis generally causes the patient to show paralysis of the facial expression muscles on one side, disappearance of forehead wrinkles, widening of palpebral fissures, flattening of nasolabial grooves, and drooping of the corners of the mouth. This condition is especially noticeable when smiling or making movements that show teeth. The affected side cannot perform even very simple basic movements. When eating, residues may even remain in the gaps between the teeth on the affected side, and may be accompanied by drooling. At the same time, tears cannot flow out normally like normal people. Facial paralysis caused by facial neuritis is mostly unilateral, so the numbness on the right side of the face is most likely due to facial nerve paralysis. |
