Sjögren's syndrome is usually caused by infectious factors, including coxsackievirus, retrovirus and hepatitis C virus infection. It may also be caused by genetic or immune factors. Immune dysfunction in the human body may also cause the disease. The disease usually causes dry mouth. Severe patients may also experience drier oral mucosa and teeth, and need to drink water frequently when speaking.
