What does bone disruption mean?

In order to have a clearer understanding of the health of their bones, doctors usually ask patients to undergo X-ray examinations. X-rays can effectively penetrate the surface of human skin and detect some diseases inside the body, including bone diseases. The results of X-rays generally reflect the patient's bone health by the degree of fluctuation of the X-rays. What does the middle section of the visible X-rays mean?

Interruption of cortical bone continuity is a diagnostic term for X-rays, which means that the bone that should have been continuous now appears discontinuous on the X-ray, which is likely to be a fracture. However, there are many tiny channels in the bones for the passage of nutrients. When these channels appear in the cortical bone, the bone that should have been continuous now appears discontinuous on the X-ray. This requires the doctor's diagnostic experience and the symptoms of the injured person to correctly diagnose whether there is a fracture. When the radiology department diagnoses the patient, if they are unable to confirm whether there is a fracture, they will report "interruption of cortical bone continuity" and let the clinical doctor make a correct diagnosis based on the patient's symptoms, or wait for a follow-up examination later. If the injury is not obviously swollen or painful and you have good mobility, you can treat it as not a fracture. Or wait two weeks to check again.

A partial crack in a bone that does not split in two is called an incomplete fracture.

Trabecular discontinuity or bone interruption refers to fractures. Generally, as long as the alignment is good, it is best to fix them with plaster or splints. The purpose of surgery is to solve the alignment problem.

Intraoperative periosteal stripping is not conducive to fracture healing. Generally, conservative treatment is used as much as possible, and oral bone peptides are sufficient. Pay attention to the diet containing foods containing collagen, such as fish and shrimp. Generally, the healing process is slower for older patients. For example, fractures at the lower end of the tibia have richer blood supply and can usually heal.

When applying plaster, just put it to the ankle joint to allow the joint to do more dorsiflexion exercises.

A fracture is a complete or partial break in the continuity of a bone structure. It is more common in children and the elderly, but also occurs occasionally in young and middle-aged people. Patients often have a fracture in one location, and a few have multiple fractures. With timely and appropriate treatment, most patients can recover their original functions, but a few patients may have sequelae of varying degrees.

Causes

There are three main reasons for fractures:

1. Direct violence: Violence directly acts on a certain part of the bone, causing a fracture of that part, resulting in a fracture of the injured part, often accompanied by varying degrees of soft tissue damage. If the wheel hits the calf, a fracture of the tibia and fibula will occur at the impact site.

2. Indirect violence Indirect violence can cause fractures at a distance through longitudinal conduction, leverage or torsion. For example, when you fall from a height and land on your feet, the trunk bends forward sharply due to gravity, causing compression or burst fractures of the vertebrae at the junction of the thoracic and lumbar spine.

3. Cumulative strain Long-term, repeated, minor direct or indirect injuries can cause fractures in a specific part of the limbs, also known as fatigue fractures. For example, long-distance walking can easily lead to fractures of the second and third metatarsal bones and the lower 1/3 of the fibula.
