Do you sweat when you have a fever?

The most obvious symptom of fever to the human body is dizziness, so fever is a symptom of a relatively serious disease. If fever is not treated in time, it may damage the human brain nerves and cause brain damage. And during the fever process, it will seriously affect a person's normal life and work efficiency. But many people have questions, will sweating occur when a person has a fever?

Fever can bring many physical and psychological discomforts. Generally speaking, fever has three stages: chills, high fever and fever reduction. Most patients will sweat during the fever reduction period. Some patients also have repeated fevers after sweating or their fevers go away without sweating. But in general, sweating when you have a fever is normal.

Fever is called fever in medicine. Clinically, an axillary temperature greater than 37.2°C is generally considered to be fever. There are many causes of fever, the most common of which is infection.

In most cases, pathogens in a person's body will be eliminated by the immune system without being noticed; but once the body's immune function declines or the pathogens are too powerful, the body has to mobilize the internal environment to stimulate a more powerful force to fight the pathogens, and to summon this powerful force, a higher body temperature is required. Therefore, the process of human fever is actually the process of the immune system fighting against pathogens.

When a person has a fever, the temperature inside the body is higher than 37 degrees Celsius, mainly because the temperature inside the body cannot be dissipated. The reduction of body temperature depends on heat conduction, and there are three types of heat conduction: radiation, convection and evaporation. The way to reduce fever is to use convection and evaporation. Convection means placing the patient in a ventilated room, rubbing ice all over the body to cool down, or applying a cold towel to the forehead. The fastest way to cool down is by evaporation. Medication can cause the patient to sweat, and the sweat discharged from the body takes away a large amount of heat, causing the body temperature to drop rapidly to normal, thus achieving the effect of reducing fever.
