What is the reason for children's teeth grinding? Nighttime teeth grinding is related to three factors

Among infants and young children, nocturnal teeth grinding is very common. When parents discover that their children have bruxism, they also need to learn more about the causes of their children's teeth grinding.

1. Parasite factors

The child has roundworms in his stomach. They plunder various nutrients in the small intestine, secrete toxins, run around up and down, and are extremely restless. They stimulate the intestinal tract to speed up peristalsis, causing indigestion and dull pain around the liver and navel. This will make the child's nervous excitability unstable during sleep and cause teeth grinding. Children with pinworms often have pinworms crawl to the anus and lay eggs after going to bed, causing anal itching, restless sleep, and nocturnal grinding of teeth.

2. Dietary factors

Children with bad habits of being picky eaters are prone to calcium and vitamin deficiencies; some children often "don't want to eat breakfast, and fill their stomachs with food at dinner." This phenomenon can easily cause digestive dysfunction, because they eat too much at dinner, and there is still food accumulated in the gastrointestinal tract when they go to bed, so the gastrointestinal tract has to work overtime to complete the task of digestion and absorption. When the stomach is working, it will also cause the facial chewing muscles to contract spontaneously, causing the teeth to grind back and forth.

3. Psychogenic factors

Family discord and parents' divorce can cause trauma to children; school-age children are scolded by their parents for heavy homework or poor academic performance; some watch TV with thrilling martial arts scenes at night. These can easily cause negative emotions such as anxiety, depression, irritability, and excessive tension, leading to teeth grinding at night.
