Everyone should know that the feeling of sweating only occurs when the human body feels hot. Therefore, in the summer, it is very common for people to sweat. Some people even sweat like waterfalls even without moving. However, if sweating symptoms occur under other circumstances, it is a different matter. Therefore, some people find that they sweat easily even though they are not very hot. What is going on? Hyperhidrosis: It is a disease caused by excessive secretion of sweat glands due to overexcitation of the sympathetic nerves. The sympathetic nervous system controls sweating throughout the body. Under normal circumstances, the sympathetic nervous system regulates body temperature by controlling sweating to dissipate heat. But in hyperhidrosis, sweating and facial flushing are completely out of control. Excessive sweating and facial flushing make patients feel helpless, anxious or panic every day. Causes Systemic hyperhidrosis can be an abnormal physiological reaction or one of the symptoms of certain diseases such as hyperthyroidism and diabetes. Local hyperhidrosis may be caused by sympathetic nerve damage or abnormal reaction, which increases the secretion of cholate acetate and leads to excessive sweat secretion by the eccrine glands. Hyperhidrosis can be roughly divided into three categories based on the causes of the disease. One is caused by systemic diseases, such as endocrine disorders (hyperthyroidism, diabetes, hyperpituitarism, etc.), nervous system diseases, some infectious diseases (malaria, tuberculosis, etc.) and long-term illness causing physical weakness. Excessive sweating can be resolved as long as these systemic diseases are controlled. The second is psychogenic sweating, which is caused by high tension and emotional excitement, and is due to sympathetic nervous system disorders. Taking some sedatives orally (such as atropine, propantheline, belladonna mixture, etc.) has a temporary effect, but has side effects such as dry mouth. The third is gustatory sweating, which is another physiological phenomenon, such as sweating caused by eating certain irritating foods (chili, garlic, ginger, cocoa, coffee). This situation generally does not require treatment, only dietary restrictions. Clinical manifestations There are two types of hyperhidrosis: systemic and localized. People with systemic hyperhidrosis often have moist skin and experience paroxysmal sweating. Localized hyperhidrosis is common in the palms, soles, armpits, followed by the tip of the nose, forehead, pubic area, etc. It usually occurs in adolescence. Patients often have peripheral blood circulation dysfunction, such as cold, wet, cyanotic or pale skin of the hands and feet, and susceptibility to frostbite. Excessive sweating of the feet causes the soles of the feet to become soaked and white due to poor evaporation of sweat, often accompanied by foot odor. When the armpits and pubic areas are sweaty, the skin in these areas is thin and tender, and is often damp and rubbed, which can easily lead to abrasions and erythema, accompanied by folliculitis, furunculosis, etc. |
